"Unravelling the world"
This is rather obvious.

- Unravel, TK Ling Toshite Sigure

《————————————————————》

It's raining. With the start of a tiny rumble, the skies crack open with millions of raindrops pattering down. Summer rains always brings up the lives of children, playing together in the backyard while the adults chat about how the weather is cooling down the temperature of the ground, and laughing about the jokes and funny things that happened to them in their everyday lives. Peaceful, calm, pattering rain washes every bit of the summer heat away, leaving the cool and wet aftermath of muddy paths and footprints, and of course, muddy children.

The rain lasted for about 20 minutes, then stopped, leaving a clear sky and the sun, again, shining on the lands of glittering fantasy, with millions of reflective mirroring puddles and shattered glossy droplets of rain on top of leaves and immature crops.

This is a time of life where everything relaxes, slows, calms, breathes after the hot and suffocating summer heat.

There is no time to rest for the group, however.

A ghost youkai has located the ghouls to be on the move around 5 days later, and it will be the same train route as how Dream, George, Bad and Sapnap had arrived. Akira had taken the initiative and said to the group prior, 'if this plan works, it works; but if it fails, that means someone might die.', and the group was unfazed. She doesn't know if they are actually unfazed or they are preparing to win at all cost.

Because that confidence cannot be used during these times.
She can't afford watching them die young.

Costumers come and go, but Dream and his friends are still here. Until a few days ago, they had not known each other (except Bad) as some form of youkai in their bloodline. Now they will have to wait for 5 days until the plan is successful. Akira had been helping them all out from the start to the end, and they are willing to take on whatever comes towards them.

That is, if they ever knew that whatever that's coming towards them.

It would be a losing battle if you don't know your enemy's weakness, or have never thought about your enemy's weakness, Sun Tzu once said. (And that is true, it's paraphrase but it's true) And those who know and/or thought about their weaknesses can increase their chances of winning. Akira knows, and she's trying her best to get intel on the group.

It's hard, trying to understand every bit of your enemy when you don't even know how they fight, much less trying to find their weaknesses. Peeling off an onion is easy, but unravelling and analysing a person is not.

The basics of ghouls are that they can't eat normal food (except coffee), they can be hurt with material similar to a kakuhou of a ghoul (a quinque), they can be poisoned by the flesh of a person who achieved immortality from ingesting mermaid meat (that is final for every other youkai in existence), and that's that...

But the ghouls of that group doesn't seem to eat a lot of humans. It is always the ones who are desperate, rogue, those that are alone that attack others. They come in groups, never harmed anyone during their trail to the train station, and they are preparing for this trip like a group of migrants.

That is what's confusing Akira.

Do they really have no weaknesses?

There had been an old Chinese saying: You can never win a fight against an idiot.
And there are also people who pretend to be idiots and escape the hell of a situation they would've been in.

But the group genuinely doesn't feel like a threat to Itomori.

Am I... Overthinking?
They might just be protecting themselves.
That means... We don't have to fight.
We don't have to fight anymore.

What great news...?

Maybe, if this town can understand them-
Okay. That's probably useless. The plan must still go on.
There is no way that humans can understand a specie that killed humans for food.

Just like there is no way for a human to understand a kind tiger.

Akira sighs.
Just as I thought I can turn this around with another route...

"What are you thinking, Akira?"
"Ah, nothing. Just thinking about another possible way to help the people and, you know, perfect the plan."
"There's no way the plan could go wrong, though."
"Badboyhalo, do not, ever, say that. You know how karma is."

"Ah."

Too late.
The flag is set.
And it is bound to fall.
