Crescent City

Crescent City had large buildings and many high tech cars.
It looked nothing like Pelican Bay State City.
It was filled with lights that hung from the air and bright billboards that illuminated any darkness.
To be honest, it looked like a promising city.
It was until we checked the local news.
It said, Huge Victory After Bombing of Pelican Bay State Prison and Pelican Bay State City!
Luna and I instantly knew that the person who ran it was the Nevada governor.
And it's citizens were the rebels and soldiers.
But how did they build this all?
I asked Luna my question and she replied with a shrug.
We continued through the city.
We saw nobody on its streets.
The light only illuminated us.
It was strange.
I never felt that feeling.
It was always Ace that got it.
It also felt rewarding.
I looked at Luna, about to tell her the amazing feeling.
But I saw Luna sulking.
Like the light illuminating us an annoyance.
That felt strange because the light always resembled good.
I always had the feeling that light would shine over darkness no matter what.
It sounds weird, but think about it.
Most books end with happy endings.
So some try to make their story have a sad ending.
Problem is, many others get the same idea.
So they do the exact same thing.
Making bad endings more common than good endings.
These are my thoughts when something strange happens.
But this felt even stranger than my past thoughts.
I think Luna's sulking made me feel stranger than ever before.
But I still felt fine.
We continued through the streets and saw a few people.
Sure enough, they were military men.
I inside a floating trash can.
Luna was trying to do the same, but she caught one of the military man's attention.
He shouted at Luna saying Come here girl or Come here, sister!
Luna walked up to them looking nervously at the five men.
The tallest man asked her to do a brawl with him.
Luna gladly excepted.
I couldn't believe my eyes.
She accepted someone who was part of the bad side!
I watched the battle closely.
It started when Luna and the tall guy came face to face with their fists up.
I took note.
The tall guy sent in a punch towards Luna's jaws.
Luna dodged it and followed up with a kick to face.
The tall guy (apparently his name is Jarred because his friends were shouting Jarred at him) hit Luna's foot and hit her.
Luna fell to the ground, but quickly got up and went for the strike to the neck.
I knew it was immediately over.
After what that strike did to Ace, he would be out in one shot.
But and unexpected thing happened.
He quickly dodged it and came in with a strike to Luna's temple.
That knocked her out cold.
I was frightened.
After that, a bed lifted her onto itself and went to the nearest hospital.
I followed it and entered the hospital.
It was controlled by robots.
I tried to enter the room, but the door closed on me.
I really wanted to see her.
It made be bust down the door with one elbow.
That was the first time I felt strong.
Like I was standing up for Luna when it should be vice versa.
I rushed to a room and unlocked the door with a conveniently placed wire I could find in my pocket.
The door unlocked and I saw Luna.
She was unconscious.
The lamp above her shined in her eyes.
The robots pushed me away and did CPR.
Luckily they woke her up.
She was raised from the bed and got a wheel chair for some reason.
Luna got out of the chair and looked at me.
Her face was frightened.
She was nervously looking around.
Like she did something that I wasn't supposed to know about.
I asked her what was wrong.
She started to bust down the locked emergency exit and made a run for it.
I followed right after.
She tried to run for it, but I was faster (something that I was a lot better at).
I caught up to her and tripped her.
She fell to the floor.
I asked her what was wrong.
She finally confessed.
But she challenged me to a brawl first.
If I win, she confesses.
And if she wins, she could return home.
I thought about it.
What does she mean return home?
Her home is like 3,000 miles away.
I decided to challenge her.
We started to get in position.
Luna started off with a punch to the face.
I didn't know what to do.
I dodged it the way Jarred at done it.
I came in with a sweep.
She fell to the floor, but got back up.
Then she tried to go for a strike to the temple.
I guarded.
I felt bones crack.
I put down my hands and saw Luna drop to her knees.
I walked up to her.
She looked down in defeat.
I went for one final kick, but I stopped just before it hit.
I put my foot back and told her what in the world was going on.
She finally confessed.
She told me that her parents never died.
I was shocked.
She continued by saying that her true dad was the guard, Ace.
She said that her true mother was killed in Nevada.
She said Ace and her divorced.
She went with Ace because she was forced to.
She ended by saying that she ran away and heard all the news about the ongoing war.
She tried to survive on her own, but was caught robbing and killing a man that was selfish.
I didn't know how to respond.
She was crying.
Like a child that lost his loving parents to a man he always hated.
Like a child that knew he could've done something, but couldn't because he couldn't speak.
Like the way I had lost parents.
I lost them to a guy named Roald.
I just let her cry.
Like I was forced to stay quiet.
But I didn't.
I couldn't just let the same thing happen to me a second time.
I told Luna that I wasn't disappointed, I was just shocked.
I tried to cheer her up by saying that she was a strong, independent, and glad that she told me.
She looked up at me, and quickly hugged me.
It felt like the way my mom, Gina, used to hug me.
She told me that everything was going to be okay.
Those were the last words of her.
Luna and I dashed out of the city to avoid any suspicion.
We entered Sagebrust to find anything.
But something stopped us that would change me forever.
I would be truly stuck with horror.
Or maybe it's just me.
But according to this, it would be hard to think otherwise.
