Ruth
I lived a good life, but I never thought it would end in flames. Just kidding I'm super alive. So when we left off I was pretty much a goner, but turns out my jumpsuit is fire proof. Remind me to thank God for that. I just jumped right over the flames and man it was exhilarating. I remember thinking if we ever got back to earth I wanted to be a firefighter, and maybe I could use my recklessness for good.
I was expecting like a whole treasure chest of gold or something super valuable to be behind the wall of fire, but there wasn't. I was in an all white ominous room with lights lining the wall. The room was completely empty.
The fire's blaze was gone, but little did I know it was hiding a door all along. It slammed shut. "Umm hey you mind opening that back up," I yelled to the ceiling.
"I'm sorry Ruth but we can't do that," a strange voice spoke back to me, but no one was insight. I never expected anyone to actually respond to me; I was just humoring myself, yet a voice did. Was I supposed to talk back? Am I just loosing my mind? "What's your name and how do you know mine?"
"I'm Xavier but you can call me Xay," The young sounding voice replied.
"Okay Xay can you tell me why you've locked me in this room?"
"I'm afraid I can't do that miss." He had a snarky tone when he spoke like he owned the world.
"Ruth will do just fine," I added annoyed at his effort of calling me miss. He may of thought he was too smart for me with his condescending tone and efforts of charm, but he didn't know who he was dealing with.
"Ok well what do you look like?"
"Excuse me mis- Ruth?"
"I asked what you looked like, but I can go first."
"I'm 5'7 with super long dark hair, green eyes, olive skin, I'm as skinny as a toothpick, and I'm pretty freakin' hot," I teased him.
"You know I can see you right Ruth?" He sounded baffled.
"Oh well then lucky you honey, now why don't you tell me about yourself?" I was way too good at this.
"Um I really don't think that's appropriate," he started, "I really would just like to ask you a few questions?"
"Ask away sugar, but let's make them quick."
"There's no need to rush Ruth."
"Oh I see you like to take it slow," I joked winking up at the ceiling, where I assumed the cameras were.
After an hour of pointless questions that included my full name, former earth address, age, and blood type, his prying took a chilling turn.
"Now Ruth tell me about your relationship with your father and mother," Xay asked causing my blood to boil.
"What is this some extreme new kind of counseling in space," I asked with a cruel tone. "I'm not answering anymore of your stupid questions." There was a long pause of silence.
"Let's try again later," Xay's voice crackled through the speaker. I shot him a bird, hoping he would get the message and wouldn't return. Who is this guy? What is this place? What do they want with me? An endless amount of questions burned through my head.
I subconsciously pressed against my side until I felt my ribs, and a flash of relief filled my body for only a second. It never lasted more than a second and then I went right back to feeling fat again. I should have known better than to talk about my body with a stranger. If they didn't verbally notice how thin I was I always spiraled. The never ending cycle had begun, so much for my plan.
