It was early February at Hogwarts, and the castle was filled with much conservation. For all students third year and up, their next Hogsmead trip was approaching. Normally there wouldn't be this much excitement about a Hogsmead trip, but this year it was going to be on Valentine's day, so most were planning on asking their crush on a date. However the Marauders had other plans in mind.
While they were all in the common room by themselves, Peter decided to bring this up. "I have a great idea mates! Let's pull one of our biggest pranks yet, but in Hogsmead. We won't get in trouble off grounds, and it's not like we have anything better to do," he said excitedly. The other three Marauders were hardly listening. James was examining a magical map of Hogwarts, Sirius was trying to balance his wand on his head, and Remus was quietly reading. Peter was pretty used to the others not paying much attention, so he continued. "I think we should set of a bunch of fireworks in front of the Three Broomsticks, and maybe set off a few dung bombs while we're at it," he mumbled. James looked up from the map and said, "Sorry mate, I can't. I'm going on a date with Lily Evans. Next Hogsmead trip we're definitely doing that though,". Peter tried to hide his disappointment for his friend's sake, and quietly says, "No worries James, I understand. Sirius, Remus, and I could probably pull of a small prank by ourselves. If you wouldn't mind,". James nods in agreement, of course he wouldn't mind if they pulled a prank without him. It wasn't their faults they were busy. Remus looks up from his book, and gives Peter a apologetic look before saying, "I'm sorry Peter but I'm going to use Saturday to catch up on my work. I never got caught up after the last full moon, and I know there's no sense in trying with a bunch of people in the common room, so a Hogsmead trip would be a perfect opportunity to catch up. Maybe another time mate,". Peter one again tries to hide his disappointment, and nods. Things become quite between the friends, and not much more is said.
