'Can you meet me at our usual spot after school?'

'Sure'

'See you there'

I was anxious the whole time. I know what he wanted to talk about. Everyone was talking about it, even outside school. Its a hot topic right now.

I finally reached the bookstore. His cat was already parked outside. With a heavy heart, I went inside the store. Empty as usual.

The stairs creaked loudly on each step, making my heart beats faster.

"You're here" he said flashing me his usual smile.

His smile suddenly made me nervous. I havent felt this in a long time.

"What is it that you wanted to talk about?" I asked, not able to hide my curiosity.

He sighed heavily. He slowly put down the book he'd been holding in the nearby table.

"What if.." he started "what if I have to go away, somewhere far. What would you do?"

"I'll go with you" my voice higher than I expected.

He chuckled lightly.

"I dont think you'd say that. You surprised me"

"Are you, going somewhere?"

"I'm not sure yet"

"Thats means you are trying to go away!"

"Sorry I lied. I'm not going anywhere"

"Stupid" I mumbled.

"Sorry. I was just joking"

"But you know, you shouldnt say that. You shouldnt follow me everywhere. You have to think about yourself first"

"I think we should stop" he announced.

"Stop? Stop what?" I asked confused.

"We should stop meeting each other like this"

"Is that all?"

"No, I think we should end the thing that's going on between us"

"What do you mean? I dont understand"

"You also heard what happened. If we got found out, you will be ruining all your future. And I cant let that happen. So lets stop" he said and walked past me. I grabbed him in his arm.

"Are you really leaving me? Didnt you promise me that you'll never leave me? If you cant keep your promise than why did you said it in the first place...I..." I couldnt say anymore. There's a lump in my throat, making it hard to breath. Its really suffocating.

"I'm sorry" he apologized. He let go of my hand, and walked out, leaving me behind.

Everything was happening so fast. The promise he made that he'll never leave me felt like its just yesterday.

I wanted to cry, but I couldnt. I keeped clenching my heart, its really hard to breath.

I went home drenched. The house was empty. I forgot that my parents went somewhere.

I didnt even have the energy to go to school the next day. Afraid I'll see him. I skipped school the whole week. My parents started to get suspicious.

So, I made my way to school without no enthusiasm. To make matter worse, I met him right outside the classroom. For a moment, seeing him, I thought everything that happened was just a bad dream. But reality hit me, when he walked past me without even glancing at me.

Thats when I realized, everything is real, and I couldnt even do anything about it.
