Within a few seconds Max and the other man joined us in the limo. I looked up as Max wiped off some blood that had splattered onto him. I felt my eyes widen at the sight of it.

"So, Anna. Obviously you now know why you're here." Henry started, moving into the middle of the limo more. I moved so that I was sitting at the end by the drivers cab, putting as much space between us as I could.
"Don't come near me." I whispered, struggling to make anything come out more than a whisper. He gently nodded his head and raised his hand slightly as an acknowledgement of my statement.

I heard a door open then close and the limo turned on. I gasped when it lurched forward, tears pricking my eyes again.

"Your father was found to be making statements to police and was trying to encroach on territory that does not belong to him. The statements were nothing because he was making them to our police, so they went nowhere but to us. Nonetheless, this matter still needed to be dealt with." Henry said leaning forward and pouring himself a whiskey.
"He got greedy." Max said motioning to Henry, who passed him a glass then poured another for himself. They sat there silently for a moment.

"As you can imagine, a few other families wanted retribution. Your father is a selfish, pitiful man. He offered up his most prized possession in order to save his own skin. So it was agreed that, in order for him to keep his life, he had to sell the most important thing to him. His organisation or his daughter. It's funny, he actually tried to bargain with us, offered you up first. Asked if you would be payment enough." Henry said taking a sip of his whiskey.
"But we also took his organisation as well."

"Sell?" I whispered looking to Henry again. "Why would you let him benefit off it?"

"Well, as far as we see it, our organisation is much, much better off than his. He's really not that much of a threat to us. We showed him that not only do we have the power and the money to crush him but that we are not to be messed with. We were able to take everything from him with the change in our back pocket. And besides, we couldn't leave him homeless. We're not savages." Henry said sipping his whiskey again.
"Think of it as a game Anna. He tried to fuck us, but he failed. Now we are going to have fun reminding him ever single day of his failure. He used to be like us. Powerful. But his choices ultimately led him to where he is now. Organisations come and go, but family is forever right?" Max said from his seat. A single tear rolled down my cheek.

"You chose me thinking it would make him weaker."

"Exactly." Max said, leaning back and finishing off his drink.

"He cared more about his work than what he ever did me. So I'm sorry to tell you that you guys got the shit end of that deal."

Matt laughed, I looked to him. Surprised as he had been quiet the whole time.
"Is that so?" He said, smirking and leaning back in his seat and staring at me.

"He is distraught. His only daughter. Heiress to his empire. His flesh and blood. Is not his anymore. The empire is ours. You are ours." The other man said. I shook my head. "Business is business. We absorbed his pitiful excuse of an organisation and got you."

"He begged for us not to take you. Pleaded, but when we offered him the money, he just couldn't refuse. He was still about to lose his organisation as well, but he really played into the loving father card and said you were the only thing of value he had left but he ultimately chose the money over you." Max said pouring himself another glass.

Tears flowed down my cheeks as I sat speechless in front of them.

"This will be your life now. You will never want for anything. You are now under the protection of the biggest and most powerful organised crime family in the world." Henry said opening the small bar fridge. I sat staring at nothing, feeling completely overwhelmed and so insignificantly small.
