"So basically after we first met Darren introduced me to all of his friends. We all instantly clicked and I became best friends with pretty much the whole group." Olivia started.
"As we started hanging out more I started developing these feelings. At the time I didn't know what they were. I was still broken because of my ex. Olivia was the only one that knew the full story and she helped comfort me. She was there for me when no one else was and that was the moment for me about her" Darren explained not making eye contact.
Flashback
It had been a little over 2 weeks since Darren and Olivia met. They hung out pretty much everyday. Olivia instantly made a connection with Lauren. They quickly became close. Olivia still wondered what made Darren in such a bad mood the day they met but he never seemed like he wanted to talk about it so she never pushed it.
Olivia was awake in her bed at 12:30 am. As much as she tried she couldn't sleep. Her mind was filled with questions. The main one playing in her head was 'why was Darren so angry?' As if on cue Olivias phone rang. She didn't look at the caller ID before she answered
"Hello?"
"L-liv"
"Dare what's wrong you sound like you've been crying"
"I- I need you"
"I'll be right over"
Olivia quickly got out of bed and threw on leggings and a hoodie. She managed to get out of the house in record time and drove straight to Darrens house. She was worried beyond belief. She didn't know what was wrong. If he was hurt physically or mentally.
Darren heard someone pull into his drive way so he immediately got up from the couch and ran outside. He saw Olivia and ran into her arms. She held him and rubbed his back for what felt like forever before she made them both walk into Darrens house.
"Dare what's wrong" Olivia asked pulling Darren into her side while they sat on the coach.
Darren took a deep breath and sat up ready to explain. "Remember the day we first met. When I went off on that barista" Darren asked. Olivia simply nodded so Darren continued.
"Well that morning I found out that Mia, my girlfriend, was cheating on me." Darren said calmly.
"Oh dare I'm so sorry I didn't know" Olivia said sadly.
"No it's fine I knew she was cheating on me the whole time. I just didn't want to believe it because I was lonely and I felt that I needed her" Darren explained.
"Wait i'm confused... so why are you crying now?" Olivia questioned.
"I'm getting there" Darren started. "Yesterday I got a text from her saying she was sorry and she wanted to meet up to make everything right."
Darren took a deep breath before he continued "and I was stupid and agreed. We met up at the coffee shop and she apologized again. And I believed her. We talked for the whole day in the coffee shop until it closed. I invited her back to my house and we'll you know what happened."
Olivia couldn't believe what she was hearing. How could someone be so rude to someone as amazing as Darren?
"Well that's good isn't it. You guys made up." Olivia chocked out.
"Well it was. Until about 40 minutes ago. S-she texted me a-and said 'we can't do this anymore'" and with that Darren broke down. Olivia pulled him into her chest while he let out sobs.
"I just feel so alone" Darren cried.
Olivia was beyond furious. Darren deserved so much. He is such a good person he didn't deserved to be cheated on. Olivia wanted Darren to know how special he was and how much he deserved.
"Darren look at me" Olivia said pulling Darren from her chest. She wiped the tears from his face and brushed his falling curls behind his ear and held is head in her hands.
"You are special. What she did to you, you did not deserve. You deserve someone who will love you for you because you, Darren Everett Criss are one hell of a man and I believe that one day you will find the perfect someone for you. You are special. Believe me you are not alone." Olivia explained
That was the moment that Darren knew he was in love with Olivia Bailey. He didn't care about Mia anymore. He didn't care about how hurt he was. When he was with her he felt safe and at home.
"Thank you. Thank you so much" Darren said wrapping his arms around her shoulders. "You mean so much to me you don't even know"
"You mean so much to me too Daren. Your my best friend" Olivia said with tears falling from her face.
They both sat on the coach in each other's embrace until they both eventually fell asleep.
Flashback Over
"She was my best friend. I couldn't tell her how I felt. At least not then. I couldn't risk loosing her. Even if that meant I had to only be her best friend. I would have done anything for her" Darren explained.
Olivia was hurt by what Darren said. He said it in the past tense. Does that he wouldn't do anything for her now. It shouldn't hurt her as much as it did.
"And he was my best friend and at the time I had no clue how he felt. But I did know he needed someone to help him through this hurt he was feeling and I was more than happy to be that person." Olivia smiled.
"Thank you for that Liv. Really" Darren said quietly looking at her eyes
"You're welcome." Olivia said avoiding his stare.
