Sudden movement awoke Louis from his peaceful sleep. He felt around his bed blindly looking for Harry before finally opening his eyes. He didn't have to question Harry's absents long before a green looking Harry walked out the bathroom connected to Louis' bedroom.
"Good morning," Harry said noticing Louis had woken up.
"Sorry I woke you up," Harry apologized using his fist to rub the sleep from his eyes.
"You're fine. Do you want some water?" Louis was sitting up reaching for the water bottle beside his bed before Harry could answer.
"Thanks," Harry said with a tight smile, walking towards Louis' bed to grab the water bottle Louis was trying to hand him. Louis only nodded.
"And um, thanks for getting me to bed last night before I did anything stupid," Harry thanked him before sipping on the water Louis had given him.
"You remember much?" Louis asked, watching Harry's adam's apple move with every swallow of his water.
"I vaguely remember talking to a cute boy and the word boyfriend," Harry smirked at Louis when he mentioned Louis calling him his boyfriend last night.
"Cute?" Louis questioned with a raised brow, ignoring the boyfriend comment.
"Fairly. I got his number," Harry winked recalling Toby putting his number in his phone so they could "hang out sometime." Louis nodded before changing the subject.
"Did you like the party?"
"It was okay. Met some nice people and got a headache afterwards," Harry shrugged. He sat down on the edge of the bed now that Louis was propped up on the headboard.
"How about you?" Harry asked nodding at Louis.
"Eh. Mostly talked to El, but then I had to go put this curly lad to bed. Got a cuddle out of it," Louis replied, making Harry's face flush.
"When did you and Eleanor get close?" Harry questioned, scooting closer to Louis on the bed. The movement not going unnoticed by Louis, making him pull his legs up and crossing them to try and give Harry more room on the bed.
"At the beginning of last year I think. We were still together in the public eye, so we tried to make it something so that maybe it wouldn't be so awkward, but it never really worked so we just tried to be friends," Louis shrugged, seeming uninterested in the story, picking at threads on his bedsheets.
"Why didn't it work?" Harry asked out of pure curiosity. Louis shook his head lightly implying he didn't want to talk about it, still playing with his bed and never looking at Harry.
"You asked me the same question about Tom," Harry pushed. Since Liam's slip about Louis possibly being gay or at least not straight, Harry was looking for anything he could find to make that make sense in his head. He'd try to ask Liam even Zayn about it afterwards, but they always found a way to brush it off. As far as Harry knew, Louis was pretty damn straight. Sure he'd kiss Harry before, but they never talked about it after the fact and they were easy to bush off as heat of the moment kisses, or drunk kisses, or even ones where they took play flirting just a little to far. He'd spent almost everyday of his life for seven years with Louis and it just seemed like Harry would have pick up a sign or two somewhere.
Louis clearing his throat interrupted Harry's pondering.
"We uh- we just didn't work you know? Just wasn't into her," Louis explained, finally looking up to Harry's face, but not meeting his eyes.
Yeah, Harry was gay, but he knew Eleanor was beautiful. No one could deny that. And any straight dude would not pass up a chance with her. But Harry also knew her personality wasn't the best, so maybe that through Louis off. But then why would he be friends with her? Nothing was adding up in his head. Maybe Louis was-
