It only took a couple hours to reach Kakariko from Hateno. As they rounded the bend, Devan couldn't help noticing the beautiful gates arching over them. Wooden ornaments, stained red, hung like wreaths across the path.
"It is beautiful indeed." Granoli said as he rode up next to Devan.
"Have you been here before?" Devan asked.
"Never." he answered. "The Sheikah tribe was in hiding for a long time. Then they sprang up again some years before the Calamity. By then, I was already a soldier stationed at Tabantha. But I've heard of the beauty of the Sheikah tribe."
"Some beauty." a soldier named Zia cut in. "The Sheikah were the ones that built all those damned guardians that have ruined Hyrule."
Another soldier, Keenan, grunted in agreement. "If it weren't for those death machines, the hero of Hyrule could've survived."
Zia and Keenan continued their conversation about their grievances against the Sheikah tribe.
Devan cursed under his breath. He had brought them both because they were the best strategists. He didn't know they were Sheikah haters. Granoli seemed to be okay with Sheikah judging from exchange with the messenger. As for himself, Devan didn't really have an opinion on the tribe. All he knew about them were from rumors he had heard around: they had white hair for some reason and they were stealthy. Sure, they had built the guardians, but Calamity had possessed them. It wasn't really their fault.
Just then, they finally reached the village. Then they saw a semi familiar face.
"Welcome to Kakariko village" Lornan said as he ran to meet them. He was wearing a white robe with red and blue trimmings and a straw hat. "You can leave your horses at the trough. Please hurry. Impa is waiting for you."
As Lornan led them through the village. Devan looked around in curiosity. The houses were shaped weird, with straw roofs and curved sides. Many of the villagers stopped to look at the passing soldiers. He saw lots of people in the same skintight getup Lornan wore when he delivered the message. He even saw families, with little children who stared with their mouths wide open, which was extremely cute. He noted that they all had white hair. A little strange, but he could get used to it.
He looked up at the decorative archways that lined the village paths. He saw someone perched on one of the archways, observing them from afar. Suspicious, he squinted at the figure. He realized it was just a Sheikah girl. He caught her eye and they had a mini death stare contest until Lornan ushered them into the largest house in the village.
"Lady Impa. Fort Hateno has responded to your call" Lornan announced as he opened the door.
Impa was a Sheikah woman with long white hair wearing similar clothes to Lornan, but had a more elaborate straw hat with metal symbols hanging from chains. Standing next to her was another woman wearing a strange headpiece, was it, goggles maybe? and a man fiddling with a couple screws.
"Thank you for coming, Hylians" said Impa "We have much to discuss. But first let me introduce my peers."
She gestured to the woman with goggles. "This is Purah, an ancient tech researcher and my sister." Then she pointed to the tinkering man. "That's Robbie, another researcher. And this is..." Impa looked around confused.
"Where's Akkami?"
Purah stifled a giggle. "She was here a second ago... I'll go get her." She said disappearing through a back door.
In the meantime, they all sat down and Devan introduced himself and his peers, Granoli, Zia and Keenan.
"these are my main strategists. I owe them for our successes in battle." He said
