A Different Kind

Chapter 5

The first thing Gray did the next day was dance, she got to school when they first opened the doors and did her morning work out and routine in the gym, she showered there and got ready there. That was her life now, go to school at the crack of dawn work out in the gym dance until she felt better and in control, school, walk to her old house after school and stay there and do homework until nightfall then go to the loft super late so she didn't have to face her brother and sister. They wanted to help her but she knew they couldn't do anything to change her. She had accidentally used her powers on Derek out of anger. She couldn't face him now. The only person who bothered to check on her was Stiles. He was always texting her and dragging her off to help with his theories.

It was late on a Thursday night, Stiles was texting her about the away track meet asking if she'd go to support him and the rest of the guys. She heard footsteps outside the house and she went out to the front of it. There stood Allison Argent.

"You know your aunt set this place on fire killing all my family." she said across the yard, "I know, I'm sorry."

"This is my way of saying get lost hunteress." she said Allison walked to the porch, "stay back."

"I'm not here to salt old wounds. I'm here because you need to get to the abandoned bank, Boyd, Cora, Isaac, and Scott went with Derek to take on the alphas." she said

"Why?'

"I barely got that but they're all going to die if we don't get there. I'm a trained hunter. I can help but I know you can take the whole alpha pack and win, please help me save my friends."

"How'd you find out" she asked

"My grandfather Gerard knew about you, in fact was a little obsessed. When he brainwashed me to take down the kanima he mentioned that when this was over we were headed to New York for the actual hunt." she said

"Why aren't you scared of me then?" she asked

"Because I know what it feels like to not be in control" Allison held out her hand to the elemental.

They got to the abandoned building just in time Kali had Cora on the floor and Boyd was down for the count with the worst injuries, Scott and Isaac were in the grasp of the twins. Allison traced the word ready on Grayce's hand and she nodded as Allison shot arrows and Ducaleon shouted for his pack to cover their eyes.

"Looks like you picked the wrong pack to mess with." Gray said as she landed on the floor. She flashed her purple eyes

"Take cover, the elemental is in play" She brought her fists up and pounded them on the floor, vines came up and grabbed the twins throwing them through a cement wall. Cora got Boyd up and to safety as Scott charged Ennis. He slid back and was in a crouched position, he looked up and Gray saw it. His eyes had changed to alpha red. Nature had told her he would be the new one, she just hoped she was wrong about Derek dying. She shook his head and they were gone. It wasn't his time yet. Derek charged Enis from behind. The twins came to join the fight as did Kali.

"Don't make me hurt you little girl." Kali chuckled.

"I hate to tell you I don't share your concern." Grayce said as Deucalion shouted

"Do not underestimate the Elemental!"

"How powerful can she be, your scent is weak, just like a runt." Aiden said that Grayce had enough she screamed and the building shook rubble coming loose and she turned her hands over at her sides and lightning came from her palms she slashed it at the three wolves as fire rose around her and them in a large ring. She whipped the electricity around to hit the twins as she let vines from the ceiling pull Kali off the ground. As fire reigned around her. Finally she dropped the three alphas letting the lightning retract.

"I'm gonna kill you little girl." Kali promised

"Good that anger might actually help you win, oh wait you can't even get a hand on me can you Kali." she taunted with purple eyes.

"You are nothing compared to us." Ethan said as he and Aiden merged as one. She brought her right hand to her chest and let it hover in front a bit then her left hand in front of it.

"Kill her!" Kali shouted as the twins changed. Grayce pounded her fist to her palm as their charge stopped and they fell backwards as she knocked their air out of their lungs.

"NOOOOO!" Scott shouted as he watched Derek fall. She had been so focused on her own fight she didn't give off any help. She used vines to throw the three alphas into a wall and ran to Scott. She peered over the edge and screamed as her big brother laid dead on the escalator. Below. It stormed like hell for the night and in the morning the sun beat down on Beacon hills like hellfire. She had taken shelter at the Hale house like always. Two days in the hale house as fire ignited around her and the ground frosted over, lightning struck, and rain poured. Finally after two long days. She heard noises

"Stiles, she could be erratic or worse." Allison warned

"She won't hurt me." he said with confidence. The door creaked open and she heard him walk in. He looked around upstairs in every room, finally landing on one he'd never been in, he and Scott had seen a lot of this place thanks to the first years of Scott's turning but he was always protective of this room. He could make out some things on the door carved in it was her name. Graycie. He opened the door expecting to see another charred room. He wouldn't call it perfectly intact but unlike the rest of the house which was black and charred her room was damaged. That was it. Burn marks on pink wallpaper, pictures curled at the edges but not ash, burned stuffed animals and blankets but it was nothing like the rest of the house. He turned around and jumped when seeing her.

"Graycie you scared me." he said

"Ask." she said

"Why isn't your old room a char-burnt hole of despair like the rest of the house?" he asked

"They told you what I am?" she asked he nodded

"It doesn't change anything Gray, I still trust you." he said

"My mom had my room fire proofed both magically and constructionally. To withstand my powers. I was able to push the fire back, I headed for the basement and eventually I ran out of energy on the stairs. That was where the firefighters found me, passed out near dead on the stairs." she said, "Stiles he's dead and it's my fault." she said, "they all are." Stiles walked up to her and he pulled her to him. She sobbed into his neck as she fell to her knees he still held her. Ten minutes of this.

"Don't hate me." he said, "I need your help, come with me?" he said she nodded and they went to his jeep. Where Derek was waiting with Cora. he was alive and when they all found out no one could find Grayce. Allison knew a place but knew she wouldn't talk to someone she didn't trust, Cora volunteered but Peter denied her and himself for lack of closeness. Cora and Gray used to fight all the time as kids and now back together again they bicker far too much, the love was there but she just wasn't right to tell her that Derek was still alive. Isaac suggested Stiles saying she was close to him and that he was always texting her. She fell to her knees as Derek came into view Stiles held her until Derek took over. Stiles stayed and watched as she broke down. Her power appeared to be linked to her emotions. All around them the dew turned to frost and everything froze over in a cold blue mini tundra.

"It's okay Gray. I'm here." Derek muttered.
