Year 2017, College Freshman Years
"Noona?" I felt a gentle nudge on my shoulder, making me turn around to face the voice which was owned by my cousin, Sanha. "Mm?" I questioned, pushing some of my hair out of my view. "Breakfast is ready." He replied with a wide smile before helping me up.
"Okay, I'll just get ready." I smiled back at him before ruffling his hair which he responded to with a small scowl. "Yoon Sanha, don't start." I smirked at him, gesturing him to leave my room.
After freshening up, I went downstairs to greet the Yoon Family. Ever since I was accepted into the University near their neighborhood, I have been living with them. Thankfully, Auntie decided to keep my "lair" which was the storage room on top of Sanha's room. Though I am living with a pile of boxes, the room is pretty neat and spacious, letting me display a bed, a desk, and even a small sofa that's outlooking the huge window that allowed me to see the city lights at night.
"Good morning, Y/N!" Jeha, Sanha's second older brother greeted, sitting beside me. "Morning, today's our first day of college." I mumbled, slight nervousness showing on my tone which made Jeha chuckle. "You'll be fine!" He cheered, slightly slapping my back.
"Why didn't you apply for the same college?" I questioned, cutting through my pancake without taking my eyes off of Jeha. "I want to be away from home for once." He explained, glancing at Sanha who was busy on his phone. "Sanha," Jeha called out.
"What?" Sanha replied without taking his attention off of his phone. "I'm putting my space for rent." Jeha mumbled, subtly biting on his lower lip as he waited for his brother to respond. Knowing Sanha, he might not open up to the thought of having someone else rooming with him. He did, in fact, wait for years to get rid of Jeha, or so that is how he worded his dislike when it comes to having little to no privacy.
"What?!" Sanha exclaimed, capturing their parents' attention. Uncle lowered his newspaper and gave the three of us a questioning look before resuming to what he was doing. "I think it'll be a nice idea, actually." Auntie replied as she placed a basket of freshly baked pastries from the bakery near us. "What? How?" Sanha questioned with a remarkable look of disbelief in his face.
"The money we get from the rent can be divided into three to add up on your allowances." Auntie explained, looking at Jeha with an approving smile. "Any responses?" Auntie asked. "I was contacted last night but they were just asking just in case they needed a place." Jeha answered.
Looking at Sanha, I tried my best not to laugh at how unreadable his expression was. He was sending daggers into his brother's head. "Sanha, I'll set up a divider." I whispered into the younger's ear which made him look at me in slight relief.
After breakfast, all three of us headed out. Me, going straight to the University while Sanha accompanied Jeha to the Mall to do some shopping for his dorm.
As I entered the school's premises, I immediately felt a wave of nervousness down on me. I have been doing this for years now, but until now, first days are still my greatest fear. Taking slow steps towards the tables that handed out the IDs, I successfully got mine and met up with my classmates.
As expected, they were way too absorbed in each other's presence that they didn't even notice me joining their group beneath a tree.
"No way! He looks like a model."
One of the girls from my department stated, making me turn towards where she was looking at. More than the thought of introductions, more than the thought of failed expectations, more than adjusting to a new environment... I have never felt my heart drop so fast with just a tiny glimpse of a familiar face.
"May I take... Yeah, he'll come in late."
'Lee Dongmin!'
My cheeks began to burn at the thought of HIM coming to view and as if the Heavens were listening to my problems, a figure came running towards the table. He rested an arm on top of Dongmin's shoulder as he tried to catch his breath.
"You must be Moon Bin then? You're just in time."
"Yes, I am sorry. And thanks, Man."
"AHHH!"
Letting the light through the tree's branches blind me, a long sigh left my lips as I heard murmurs around me mixed with some laughter. I was too occupied with the thought of running away that I started backing up until I tripped on a root, making me fall onto the grass.
"I know my best friend and I are breathtaking, but please be careful..."
There it was again, the rapid beating of my heart just from the sound of his uniquely warm voice.
"Of all the departments in this University, why do you have to walk into mine?"
"Excuse me, what?"
