5. emperor

In the morning Felix woke up sooner than usual.

"Ugh, what a weird dream. I felt like I was getting posessed."

"Heh, it wasn't only a dream."

"HOLY SHI- WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE."

Hyunjin replied irritatedly. "What? I couldn't have just vanished into thin air. Now get up, it's already day outside."

Felix sighed and looked at the time on his phone. It was six in the morning.

Felix threw himself back on the bed. "What's wrong with you?? It's only six am. I always wake up at seven."

"But the sun is already up. You have to get up."

"No." Felix turned again his phone and started scrolling his feed.

"See? This is why peasants will always stay peasant. Their unwillingness to work stops them from being succesfull in life."

"Ugh, says someone born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Bet you were one rich aristocrat."

"I was the emperor."

Felix choked on air and his phone fell on his face.

"You were wHAT?"

"Get this weird lightning box out of my face."

"You can remove the phone yourself."

"..."

Felix picked up his phone and asked again.

"You were really an emperor?? You're not kidding, right? That's actually cool. Now I wanna find out what did you do, heh. We gotta go to the library today."

"..."

"..."

"I'd rather not talk about it."

"What do you mean? Did you do something bad?"

"Of course not!" Hyunjin scoffed. "I always did what was the best for the country."

"But people are vile creatures, you can't trust anyone."

"Ah, not all people are bad."

"Even the closest ones can be taken over by greed and turn against you."

"Is this why your loved one stabbed you? For money? For power?"

"I don't know! I don't know, why he betrayed me! We were so close. Sure, we had sometimes different opinions but we never held grudges!" His voice broke a little at the end.

Felix haven't heard Hyunjin to talk so openly yet. He had a cold and distant voice but whenever the topic of his beloved came up, he couldn't hold back his emotions.

Felix could imagine that under all that sarcasm and hate, was once a heart of a human being who loved and cared.

But for one reason or another, the heart that once loved was now full of hatred and grudge.

'Something doesn't feel right.' Thought Felix. 'There's something wrong with his explanation.'

'If it was just as he says, then there would be no reason for the person to betray him unless the person would be completely and utterly evil.'

"Look, I'm not an expert in relationships. But maybe things aren't as you think. Maybe they had a reason."

"A reason?? A REASON TO KILL ME?"

"Uhm well..."

"You don't know anything and you don't understand anything, so stop thinking you can figure something out." Hyunjin was offended again.

"Yeah fine! I won't ask anymore, let's just go to school." Felix rolled his eyes but in the back of his mind he felt that this matter was still far from being settled.
