At age 20, James and Lily got married at a quiet courtyard with just Remus, Sirius, Hope Howell, Peter, and James' parents in attendance.
At age 22, Remus got down on one knee after dinner one night, asking Sirius to marry him. Sirius said yes, and they got married beside James, Lily, James' parents, Peter and Remus' mum.
At 23, Harry James Potter, the son of James and Lily, was born almost completely blind. The four friends worked hard to make him feel loved and supported.
Remus would use puff paint to let Harry feel the pictures in books he read him. Sirius was oftentimes transformed into Padfoot, just so Harry could feel him.
Lily would teach him to walk independently with his cane.
James taught Harry how to identify people by their hands.
For example, Sirius' hands were soft and had a smooth finish on the nail from the nail polish he wore.
Remus' hands were rough and riddled with scars. Harry would often run his fingers along Remus' scars and tell him that they were pretty, which made Remus cry the first time he heard it. He loved children, but had never thought of having his own...
James' hands were big but smaller than Remus', and had a ring on the left hand, fourth finger.
Lily's were small and delicate with longer nails.
Remus loved being Uncle Moony, but couldn't stop thinking about having a child of his own. Sirius, too, desperately wanted a child, but simply was afraid the whole idea would freak Remus out.
That night, after coming home from babysitting Harry, Remus asked, facing away from Sirius, in bed,
"Siri, would you ever want children...?"
Sirius' face lit up and he said,
"Yeah, I've thought about it."
Remus asked hesitantly,
"Would you want children with me...?"
Sirius shifted to sit next to Remus and said,
"Yes, dummy. You don't think I married you to have children with someone else, do you?"
Remus got quiet, saying a bit frantically,
"I just don't know, Siri. I can't carry a child. I just...can't. The dysphoria, the growth; just...no."
Sirius quickly replied,
"No, no, no, babe. I'd never ask you to carry a child. You're a man, and men usually don't carry children. I mean, some do, but I'd still never ask you to do that..."
Remus said,
"Thank you. I just...I want a child. I love Harry and I love being his uncle, but I want one that's mine, you know...?"
Sirius hesitantly said,
"I know what you mean..."
"Wait, you want kids?!?!"
Remus retorted.
"Yes, I want kids, but how would we do it...?"
Sirius asked puzzled.
Remus sheepishly said,
"Well, I've been sort of looking into that. I know that, before I went on T, Madam Pomfrey insisted that she save some of the eggs in me. We could mix it with your sperm and use a surrogate..."
Sirius was ecstatic,
"Really??? We can do that?!?"
"Yeah, it's just... expensive..."
Remus said sheepishly again. Money always made Remus nervous because he had so little that was actually his. Sirius laughed.
"Remi, I'm the heir to a Black fortune. If we want a child, we can have a child. So, is that what you want?"
Remus blushed, saying,
"Yes, Siri..."
