Chapter XXVI

-You promised- Law scolded you, you sighted defeated as you had indeed promised to go with him, you didn't think he would remember, but he did

-Just one more page?- you asked but he shook his head, he needed to be there on time and you still needed to get ready- Please, I can get ready in 5 minutes- he shook his head again, this time you rolled your eyes and stud up from your chair, lazily walking to the room and picking stuff from a drawer- why do you want me there so bad?- you asked genuinely curios as he hadn't invited you before to his doctor dinners

-They asked me to do so- he said, the other doctors were all older than him and always brought their partners, the wives constantly asking for his companion. He didn't had one until recently (you;)) and still, he had decided not to invite you because he knew you didn't like those weird social dinners, because he didn't like them either- Dr. Maslow's wife told me she would bring her niece if I appeared alone tonight and I really don't want anything to do with her

-Good- you said kissing his cheek as you placed your hair into a more styled way, almost ready to leave already, you were right about the 5-minute thing, you were more than ready to leave looking more than decent and feeling fresh

On the way to the restaurant Law gave you a lot of instructions and information about the doctors, so much information. Most of the information was about which doctors where going to be there, what they did, their wives and what to talk about and what not. But the instructions were the weirdest thing ever as he had asked her to not be alone with a doctor called Dr. Mane as he was weird and preferred her to stay by his side as much as she could.

-Dr. Trafalgar! - a woman waved in the entrance of the restaurant at both of you- What a surprise!

-Good night Mrs. Douglas- Law said as you approached her- Good night Dr. Douglas- the man next to the woman nodded politely

-I'm so glad you finally brought her!- she said excited pulling you closer to give you a huge hug leaving you out of breath before she dragged you inside to a huge table full of people, Law slowly following you behind- girls she's is Dr. Trafalgar's girl

The woman on the table almost ran to you asking you a lot of questions, like how did you met, how was he, if he was romantic and a lot of things to the point of overwhelming you. Law had to first shake hands with his colleagues before he could sneakily get you out of there, despite of you being surrounded by so many people you managed the situation well

-Excuse me ladies, I suggest we continue with dinner so it won't get cold- the ladies all agreed and walked back to their seats next to their respective husbands all chatting about Law and you as it was a weird thing to see him with company-they like you already- he told you when he opened the chair for you

-I hope that's a good thing- you said nicely

-Dr. Trafalgar, how was the coronary revascularization you did the other day? - he asked rather coldly, Law smirked at his question

-It was more than successful; I had no difficulty or problems during the surgery and the patient seems to be almost fully recovered- he said in a cocky tone- how was your cholecystectomy?

-Good as usual- he kept eating, that is when you realize what was going on in there. They were all playing, or at least showing off their goals in the surgery room.

Law was a clear winner for that night, despite of numerous attempts of the other to top his surgeries with a lot of small ones, he always got the best ones. You couldn't help but to listen how proud he talked about his accomplishments, at home or when you were with him, he talked about his surgeries in a more normal thing and not as a big deal, but he had just presented them all there as the best things he had ever done

-A little competitive, aren't you? - you whispered on his ear, he just chuckled and placed an arm around you

-Why you never do that to me honey? - a woman asked her husband who looked away annoyed by the young couple- don't they look adorable?

-Thank you- you said nicely

-Your name is Y/N, right? - a man asked you and you nodded, Law held your hand instinctively as he didn't like him at all- what do you do for a living?

-I'm a writer- you said, the man raised an eyebrow- I write novels and stuff

-Well is a pleasure to meet you Y/N- the woman on the table looked rather angry at the ma speaking, Dr. Mane was hated by everyone for being a sexist doctor who had stabbed everyone on his way to the top, always competing against Law for the best patients, but Law had always been better than him, thing that he hated as he was better and way younger than him.

-What have you done this week Dr. Mane? - another one asked trying to return a more natural conversation, but Dr. Mane's expression changed from a curious one to an annoyed one as he had done nothing to brag about, so he just sipped his wine

-Whatever you do Y/N... - Law whispered- do not get close to him, ever- he held your hand tight as he could see the way Dr. Mane was looking at you, and he was not having it

-I promise- you whispered back

The women on the table couldn't help themselves but to have a chat with you, you felt like you were a new toy for them as they pampered you so much complementing you and already inviting you to a thousand places at the same time and wanting you to meet their daughters to be friends with you, some even recognized your books wanting to know everything about them. You couldn't resist but to accept an invitation to have tea with them sometime later as they really wanted to talk more with you to get to know you.

After all the chatting Law and you left a little early as he noticed how tired of socializing you were, he also wasn't the type to socialize with them for a long time and he had made his point of still being the best surgeon on the hospital.

-What do you think about them? - he asked once you were on the car

-They are too loud- you admitted- but I really can't wait for the next one- he smiled hearing you say that- and you better do some crazy shit on the hospital because I'm not letting you lose- you said kissing his cheek
