Wake Up (Law X Reader)

Chapter X

Waking up in the hospital room wasn't something you liked, it was cold and empty. You couldn't wait to finally sleep in your house, the simple though of you being in your home made you smile. You stud up slowly and decided it was a good idea to take a shower, so you called the nurse who was kind enough to give you a clean towel. You knew you were leaving the next day, or at least that was what Law had said, it felt weird that you got used to the people around you so fast.

The warm water helped you clear your mind, the thing that you missed the most about your home was the small bathtub in your bathroom, you could spend hours there just thinking or reading or even getting some ideas, it was good to have a shower there, but still, you were going to make sure to take a bath as soon as you return home. You stepped out of the shower and got into the light blue gown, it was comfortable and looked like a simple dress but you were craving to wear something you could sit in any position with. You simply missed home.

-Good morning? - you heard Laws voice in the room and walked outside the bathroom to greet him

-Good morning Dr. Trafalgar- as soon as you got close to him something made you shiver, the smell of his coffee

-Is everything okay Y/N? - he asked concerned, you had stopped just as you approached him

-I'm okay... I just have this strange feeling...-you couldn't remember why it was so familiar or why was it so important- where did you got that coffee?

-This? - Law looked at his coffee- Sachi gave it to me, the machine I use has been broken for over a month, do you want coffee?

-No, it's just like... I've smelled it before?- you remembered something, just the smell and emptiness, nothing more- I might be going crazy, it's like I recognized it from when I wasn't conscious- Law almost dropped the coffee, he had drank his coffee there several times before you woke up- am I going crazy?

-No, it's totally okay to remember things, it must have happened just before you woke up so the memory is kind of fresh- Dr. Kureha said entering the room and conversation- maybe someone, like let's say, here my friend Dr Trafalgar used to check up on you while having coffee- Law was losing it, one wrong move and he was gone for good

-It must have been Penguin then- you said- he told me he monitored me before I woke up- Law felt kind of relieved until he saw Dr. Kureha's teasing smile, he was ready to finish her right there

-I was just checking out on my ex-patient- she said checking your file- I heard you are leaving tomorrow

-Ex-patient?- you asked while getting on your bed again

-I used to be your doctor until this... kind hearted man decided to take care of you- Kureha glanced Law- but he's doing an excellent job

-Thank you- he said clearly annoyed, he was going to take over every single one of her big patients

-I'll be going now, good luck- and just as she appeared, she left, leaving an awkward silence behind her and a murderous Law who was ready to finish her career if he had to

-Am I really leaving tomorrow? - you broke the ice; Law took his eyes off the door Kureha had just exited and looked at you relaxing a little

-You could leave today, but we've been keeping you here for observation, you had recover your normal sleeping ours and everything seems to be fine- he admitted- but we want you to finish the basic movement recovery program, you can come and take it tomorrow and just take todays here- he was being realistic, it was all it was left plus you going to some appointments from time to time, yet he didn't want you to go and he was conflicted

-I'll stay- you were dying to go home, but something kept you from leaving, like if you wanted to stay more just to... see him?

-Whatever you decide- he said coldly hiding the heat getting on his cheeks- I'll keep with the plan then

-Dr. Trafalgar- he brushed the thought away and looked at you- is there any coffee machine nearby?

There you were, walking with Law around the hospital to get coffee. He had insisted on going with you promising to get a decent cup and a quiet place in the hospital cafeteria and you just couldn't say no, the nurses would have taken you to the coffee machine that almost never works. In the moment you got to the cafeteria you realized something, you hadn't gotten your wallet back

-Dr., I think I might get some water and go back to my room- you said trying to avoid getting embarrassed for not having the money- it was a good walk anyway

-I'll pay for it- he insisted, he already knew you didn't have a wallet since you asked for the coffee machine, that's why he insisted on going with you

-Are you sure? - you asked- I'll pay you back tomorrow when my Boss brings my stuff

-Leave it like that and order, I might change my mind- he teased, you chuckled and walked to the desk with Law to ask for some coffee, he paid for it and walked you to a corner of the cafeteria where there were not many people

-Thank you, I missed coffee- you said sipping on the hot beverage- can I ask you something?

-It depends

-On what? - he crossed his arms and showed you a serious face

-On if I want to answer it or not- you puffed your cheeks and crossed your arms as well

-It's just a question-you complained, he smirked and nodded for you to make the question- what made you become a doctor?- Law's heart almost stopped, he wasn't expecting that at all, he hadn't thought about it in a long time and he wasn't sure that he wanted to remember either

-I'll skip that one, too personal- Law answered with a tone of sadness in his voice that didn't go unnoticed by you, so you abstained yourself for asking more- you can't ask that to someone just like that, you need to take me to a date first- he said joking around, but your expression was completely serious, like trying to examine him

-Then let's go on one- the words left your mouth without you processing them, Law raised an eyebrow at your proposal, you were so not in sync on what you had said that you said it again- let's go on a date

-Y/N did you just asked me out? - he said confused, not that he didn't like it but it was so out of nowhere that he was still processing it too

-I think so- you said now catching up on your own thoughts- I'm sorry I don't know what happened to me, sometimes I just speak without even thinking, I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable- you sipped on your coffee avoiding his glace

-Are we doing it? - he asked even more confused, now he didn't' know if you were serious or not

-I mean... I wouldn't mind having a date with you-you said now meeting his eyes- I have a good time when you are around, and maybe it's just the fact that I've not interacted with people for 8 months, but I enjoy your company
