I know I said that already, but she hated you so much.
Olivia used to look at you with such venom and envy, I thought you might just fall apart from her stares. But you were Nick. You didn't mind venomous glances of my star.
You were the sun. She was just a nameless star.
You were the big giant with shiny smiles that made the flowers bloom. And Olivia was one of the million of kids who found themselves in darkness. Waiting for their fall.
You made me laugh as cheerfully as she used to on sunny days. You were the version of Olivia I fell in love with. You were crazy, carefree, laughing so loudly the walls shaked.
But you were better. You didn't breath out darkness when it got a little cold in life. You cried with no remorse for those dead tears falling down your cheeks. You struggled and yet you didn't.
You were better than Olivia.
It feels foolish to say, perhaps that is the main reason I never could love you. Olivia held me tightly when I cried. Tighter than you ever could. She hurt me with her embraces, bringing me and my pain back to her. She crushed my pain with a firm hand and loved me with firm words.
She never understood that. She didn't understand it was her and only her I would ever love. She didn't understand I couldn't possibly love someone else.
Olivia said bad things about you so I would stop talking to you.
But I never did. You were a friend. And I told her.
I told her I admire you for fighting for yourself. For being the writer you want despite everything you have gone through, Nick. I told her I admire you for being strong.
Still, Olivia scoffed and said she could break you in five minutes, but Nick, please don't take it personally...
She broke the moment her stepfather touched her.
