They walked down the corridor, and, a few minutes later, left the building, taking the stairs, this time.

In silence, they got into Jake's old car once again, and started driving towards the house they would be living into for at least a week.

From his place, it would have taken almost an hour.

"So..." Jake begun, trying to start a conversation "...you, ehm... I don't know, wanna talk?"

He turned to her, and quickly back at the road, chuckling nervously.

"We're going to spend a lot of time together anyway, so... I mean, we might as well start getting to know each other now... right?"

She thought about it for a second, and giggled at his embarrassment.
God, he was so cute...

"Yeah, why not" she smiled.

"Oh, great!... Ehm..."
He remained speechless.
He had nothing to talk about.

"...What about we play that game, how's it called... the questions one..."

"The one where we have twenty questions each?" he suggested.

"Yeah, that one!" she excitedly said.

"Oh, sure! Sounds great!"

"Ok, I start..."
She thought about it for a second.
"...Favourite movie?"

"Easy one. Die Hard" he smirked.

"Seriously? Mine too!"

"What?! Really?"

"Yeah!!!" she smiled, excited.

"Oh my God!!!"
His eyes lit up, shining bright with happiness. "...Ok, you're my favourite person already"

She giggled, blushing slightly.
"Is it that easy?"

"What is?"

"Becoming your 'favourite person'"

"...Yeah, I guess so" he chuckled.

They laughed, as they sped up through the highroad, the sun setting behind them and the other drivers.

It was going to be a fun hour.
__

"Ok, last one..." Jake said, smiling.

"Be careful, you won't get a second chance" she grinned.

They had talked a lot, during that hour.
They had shared childhood stories, embarassing breakups, fun facts about each other's personality and life...

There wasn't much left to ask.

"...Ehm, let's see... Oh, ok! Got it!... Why did you move to New York?"

"Oh... you haven't asked that, yet?"

"Nope..."

"...Weird, it's usually the first thing people ask to me..."

"Well, I'm not like other people" he smirked, winking.

Y/n giggled, slightly blushing, and thought about it for a second.

"...I ...I'm not really sure. I usually say that I did it to follow my dreams, you know? To try achieve my goals... but I'm not so sure, anymore... I guess I wanted to see if the city life was a better fit for me. But... well, seeing how it has gone so far, I'd say it isn't" she chuckled nervously.

He looked at her, pulling out a comforting, yet sad, smile.

He could tell that she was still very shaken, even tho she joked about it, now.

He pulled up, finally stopping the car in front of the safehouse, and sighed, turning off the engine.

"...And what would the dreams you're following be?" he asked, curious.

"I'm sorry, buddy, you've ran out of questions" she smirked, climbing out.

Jake chuckled, and did the same, getting to the trunk of his car.

He opened it, and took out of it his backpack, y/n's one, filled with the few clothes that hadn't been burnt in the fire, and a big cardboard box, filled with DVDs of Nicholas Cage movies, all the Die Hard ones, a wii with some videogames, and some comic books, the only type of book Jake read.

The standard safehouse kit, basically.

He always kept it in his car, for emergencies. You'll never know you're gonna need one, until you finally do.

He locked it, and walked to the front door, with her a few steps behind him.

He opened it, with the keys the captain had given him, and left his stuff at the entrance, sighing proudly.

"Hello, new home..." he smiled.

He stepped aside, letting y/n enter as well, and closed the door, locking it, as she wandered around the living room, studying it.

"...So... this is where we're gonna stay until uncle Ray and your squad solve the case?"

"Yep" he said, scratching his neck "It's not much, but... well, we don't really have a choice, sadly"

"No, no, it's ok... I actually like it" she shyly smiled "It looks nice..."

"...Yeah, I guess so" he smiled, looking around.

The house was small, but pretty cozy, and modern. The furniture was mostly grey or black, and even tho they were very little, the rooms looked really comfortable.

The only problem was...
There was only one bedroom.

"Oh, snap..." Jake said, seeing the king sized bed in the middle of it.

"Is this the only one?" she asked, concearned.

"Yeah..."

She sighed, resting her hands on her hips.

She wouldn't have minded sharing a bed with him, but they didn't know each other that well, and she still was in denial about how she felt for him, so...

"Well, I guess I'll just sleep on the sofa, then..." he sighed.

"No, I'll take it! I don't want you to sleep there because of me..."

"It's okay, y/n, really" he chuckled "...It's not a problem, I've done this loads of times..."

"But you've already got to stay here, I don't want you to sleep badly as well..."

"Y/n, it's fine. Seriously" he softly smiled "I apprecciate your concearn, but it's really no big deal to me. Take the bedroom, I insist"

She wanted to keep going, but realized it would've been useless. He didn't look like he could've been persuaded otherwise, and from what she had seen, he was a very stubborn one.

"Ok, ok..." she gave up "...Thank you"

"No prob" he smiled.
