- In the mean time, at the precinct -

"Hey, Amy" Rosa said, walking closer to the detective's desk with her hands in her pockets.

"Oh, hi Rosa!" she smiled, looking up from her computer.

"Are you busy?"

"No, not really" she chuckled "I've already finished my paperwork, so..."

"Dope, 'cause I have a case, and the Captain gave me permission to bring someone with me to work the case"

"Y-you chose me?" she stuttered, surprised and excited.

"No, Charles"

Amy's face fell.
"Oh..."

"I'm kidding, idiot. Of course I chose you" she smirked.

"Well, that was harsh..." Charles muttered from his desk.

"Shut up, Boyle"

"Sorry"

She turned back to Amy.
"Sleuth sisters stick together"

"Sleuth sisters!!!!" she exclaimed "I can't belive you finally used it!!!!"

Rosa stared at her for a moment.
"Ok, I changed my mind. Charles, you're up"

"Yesss!" he cheered, jumping up from his chair.

"No no no no no, wait! I'm sorry, I promise I'll be normal" she pleaded her.

"Ok then, let's go" she smirked.

Amy smiled, took her jacket, and followed Rosa to the elevator.

"Come on!!! Stop playing with my emotions, guys!" Charles frowned, sitting back in his chair.

"Sorry Boyle, maybe next time" Gina teased him, chuckling.

"Sleuth sisters!" Amy cheered, as the doors closed.

"Sleuth sisters" Rosa smiled.

"You're smiling!"

She turned and looked at her.

"...ok, I'll shut up"
__

"So, the Captain gave you the case yesterday?"

"Yeah"

They were in the car already, Rosa in the driver's seat and Amy beside her on the passenger's one.

"Oh..." she said "...I'm a bit jealous, you know?"

"He gave it to me because I was the only one there except Jake, Scully and Hitchcock" she said, looking at her for a moment, before focusing on the road again.

"Oh..."

"You have nothing to be jealous about, he chose me just because I was the most responsible left in the room. And you're here now, it's like he gave it to you as well"

"Right" she smiled "...but wait, then what's Jake doing? He didn't come to work today, and I know he's usually late, but not this much"

"The Captain sent him with his niece to a Safe House"

"Wait, his niece?" she said confused "I didn't even know he had a niece!"

"Right, I still haven't explained the case to you... well, basically, Y/n's apartment, Holt's niece, burnt down a couple days ago, and the firefighters think it could be arson, so we gotta investigate and find out who did it"

"Oh... so wait, if it was arson... does it mean we have to work with-

"Boone? No, don't worry. He's leaving us do our job, this time"

"Well, that's new" she chuckled.

They drove in silence for a while.

"I'm really glad you chose me, by the way... thank you"

"No prob" she said, trying to hide her smile.

"You're doing it again!!!"

"Do I have to leave you here in the middle of the road?"

"You would never do that"

Then she saw her face and the dead serious expression that was on it.

"Please, don't do it...?" she said, terrified.

Rosa smirked, and the car turned left into another road.

To their right, the building where y/n lived, some of which was now black because of the fire.

"Oh God..." Amy said.

"Yeah... luckily y/n wasn't inside, when it happened, and the firefighters arrived just in time to stop the flames from burning everything"

She stopped the car.
"Come on, let's go"

They left the car, and walked into the building.

As they entered the hall, a short man in his fifties greeted them, looking devastated.

"Are ya the cops workin'on the case?" he said, with a thick New York accent.

"Yes, detective Diaz and Santiago" Rosa said "Are you the manager?"

"Yeah, George Buckley" he said, shaking their hands.

He was a very Danny DeVito looking guy, but he was a few inches taller and with a bit more hair on his head.

"We'd like to ask you a few questions about the fire"

"Sure. Let's go to my office"

The man sighed, and led them to a small room not very far away from the main one.

He walked in and sat at the desk in the middle of it.

"What do ya wanna know?"

Amy looked at Rosa, and took out her notepad, ready to write down everything.

"How long has miss Y/l/n been living here?" Rosa asked.

"Not that long. A couple years, I think, but... well, my memory isn't that great"

"Has she ever caused trouble? Maybe fought with a neighbor, or broke something?"

"Nah, nothing like that. The opposite, actually. Never really heard much from her, except for a couple problems with the heating that wasn't working well last winter. She has never talked much with anyone, and wasn't much around as well"

"Were you here, when the apartment was set aflame?"

"Yeah, I was. I was the one that called the firemen"

"Have you seen anything or anyone suspicious, before it happened?"

The man thought for a moment.

"I mean, there's always a lotta people walkin' around here, and it's not like I know everyone, so I can't really help you with that..."

The detectives nodded.

"Can we see the apartment?" Amy asked.

"Yeah, sure. There's not much left of it, tho" he said, getting up "Follow me"

They left the room and entered the elevator down the hall, going up to the third floor.

"It's a nice building" Rosa thought to herself "I mean, not a five star hotel or anything, but surely better than most buildings here"

Then they walked down the corridor, stopping in front of the burnt down apartment.

"Oh God..." Amy said.
