The car stopped in front of a tall, dark building. Through some of the windows, a bright warm light shone, meaning that most of its residents where home.

Jake sighed, and turned off the engine.
"Come on, let's go"

"...Can't I just wait here?" she asked, nervously twirling and tugging the end of her hoodie's sleeve in her hand.

"I can't leave you here alone, y/n. It's not safe" he soflty said, pulling out a comforting smile.

She took a deep breath, and looked outside.

She didn't even know this man.
For what she knew, he could even be a kidnapper, or something.

He didn't look scary, or violent, tho.
With his curly brown hair, his sweet, chestnut eyes, his adorable smile...
He was cute, and seemed trust worthy.

But then again, even serial killers can be cute, and still manage to kill you.

Then she remembered her uncle's words: I trust this man with all my heart

She knew uncle Ray well enough to know that if he trusted someone, it meant she could too.

"...Ok, I... I'm coming"

Jake smiled, making her blush.
That damned smile...

"Let's go, then"

They got out of the car, and entered the building, immediately getting inside the elevator.

The doors closed, and the metal box started unsurely going up, making weird noises that gave off the impression that something could snap, and make it all fall down in just a few seconds.

Y/n gulped, and took a deep breath, trying to stay calm.

She had never liked elevators.
Or small spaces in general.

"Everything ok?" the detective asked, worried. She looked as if she was about to faint, and it scared the shit out of him, even tho he tried not to show it.

He had known this girl for, like, half and hour, and was already willing to give his life for her.

"God, I'm so desperate..." he thought, hating himself.

"Y-yeah, I'm f-fine, I..." her breath started quickening, but she kept on breathing deeply, trying to control it "...It's just a bit of claustrophobia, don't worry"

Jake looked at her, concearn spreading on his face, and got a bit closer.
"You're sure? Sorry if it's rude, but you don't seem fine to me..."

Her head started spinning, making her vision blurry. She quickly hold on to him, putting her hand on his arm to stay standing.

He carefully took her arm, and put it around his neck, while, wrapping his around her waist, to help her.

"Don't worry, it's just another floor..."
He softly said, trying to comfort her.

She slowly nodded, feeling her breath sharpening, her heart beating faster.
It was happening.

A panic attack.

She lifted her head up, panting, breathing heavily. She was starting to drift off, almost fainting, and felt her knees get weak.

She couldn't have resisted for much longer.

Suddently, the doors opened.

She quickly burst out of the elevator, grasping for air. She fell onto the floor, standing on her knees, and put a hand to her heart.

She stood there for a moment, until finally started breathing normally again, and her heart slowed down, going back to pumping the blood into her veins in the same old way.
