"We can catch the 9:10." Mel said into the phone as she paced in the kitchen. "K, cool. See you there." She said then grabbed a wallet sized photo on her dresser and slid it into the back pocket of her pants.
"Mel, do you need money?" Her father called out from the living room.
She joined her father and graciously accepted the offer. "Don't forget to make curfew."
Melanie raised her eyebrow as she stared at him. "Dad, come on. They don't even go on until 10. At least give me midnight."
He pretended to think about it then waved his hand. "Okay, okay. Don't walk alone!"
"It'll be fine, Dad."
"Hide your money!"
She was already out the door.
When she arrived at the train station, there was her closest and pretty much only female friend, Pat waiting on the platform.
"Dude, you had me worried."
Mel waved it off. "No sweat."
"I can't believe they won't be in school with us anymore." Pat said.
Mel nodded. "Well, we knew they'd get recognized eventually."
The train whistled as it approached the station.
As soon as they stepped on, they quickly found two seats together. They both slouched into a comfortable position and Mel rested her head on Pat's shoulder.
"Have you heard from him today?"
Mel nodded. "He forgot his hat." She said then pulled it out from the pocket inside of her jacket. She smiled as she held it up.
Pat shook her head. "What will he do without you?"
Melanie smiled, but wondered what she would do without him.
Pat noticed her friend place the hat onto her chest where she could clearly take in his scent.
Mel noticed eyes on her. "What?"
Pat said nothing and turned to look out the window.
Mel hit Pat's arm playfully. "What?"
"You know what." Pat replied.
Mel rolled her eyes and shoved the hat back into her jacket.
Once they arrived, they headed over to the side door of the venue. The place was small, but there was a huge crowd waiting to get in.
Mel beeped Ad and waited.
"What are you two doing back here?" One of the bouncers asked sternly.
"We are waiting for Ad-rock." Mel replied.
The bouncer chuckled. "You and the rest of them sweetheart."
Mel pressed her lips together.
"Easy there Tiny T." Ad said as he exited the side door. "They are with me."
