I woke up drenched in sweat. I sat up rapidly, while I was shaking and frantically looking around my room.

I breathed a sigh of relief when I realized I was still in my room. I slowly got out of bed and went to the bathroom. I splashed some cold water on my face and looked in the mirror.

"I'm a mess," I thought.

I turned on my phone to check the time. I had about 30 minutes until my shift at the Agency started.

My nightmare really shook me. In the nightmare I was having a normal evening, walking home without Dazai or Kunikida. While I was walking, a young girl with long black hair separated into two pieces with flower clips approached me. The next thing I knew was I was back at the mafia, in Mori's office. He told me something along the lines of being his assistant and never leaving his side.

I am never walking home alone. Ever.

I decided to stop by the café to pick up a drink before heading into work. I sipped the drink as I smiled to myself, ready for a new day.

I opened the door to the agency. Thankfully, nothing was off this time. Dazai was sitting at his desk, but wasn't working, so today seemed like an ordinary day.

I took my seat across from Kunikida, wishing him a good morning. He simply nodded in response, too focused on work.

Good talk.

"Hey, (L/N)," Kunikida said.

"Yeah, what's up?" I replied, looking up from my laptop.

"Can you do some stuff for me? I have to step out for a second," he asked.

I smiled and nodded in response. "Leave it to me."

"Thank you," he handed me the documents he was working on. There were only a few.

I ended up getting them done rather quickly and then I went back to my stuff. I placed his folders beside his desk for when he returned.

After about 10 minutes, Kunikida came back.

"Oh, thank you, are they all done?" He asked, flipping through some pages.

"Yeah, it was light work, so I got it done fast," I responded.

"Right," he interrupted after a few moments of working silence. "I need you to head out with Ranpo today."

"Oh? What for?" I asked.

"Well, I have a case out a bit far, and you're coming with me!" Ranpo called out as he came by and gave me a few pats on the head.

I turned to my side and looked at him.

"So, am I like your assistant or something?" I asked, curiously.

"Don't be stupid, (L/N)!" He laughed. "The world's greatest detective doesn't need an assistant for detective work."

"Hang on, so why am I coming along?" I said with a confused tone.

"Simple! I hate basic knowledge and stuff, so I don't know how to take the trains."

I blinked out of pure shock. You could practically hear the cartoon blinking noise.

I stood up. "So, when are we leaving?"

"Well, we could go right now! The earlier the better," Ranpo responded confidently.

"Sure thing," I said, grabbing anything I needed for the trip.

I waved goodbye to everyone as Ranpo and I walked out the door.

We arrived downstairs at the café. I asked Ranpo if he wanted to stop here and get a drink. He declined, saying the police wanted him there as soon as possible.
