ETERNAL GLORY
☆ ☆ ☆

THE EVENING AIR was cold as it blew through the open window in her father's study. Sitting as still as possible, and with perfect posture, Cassie struggled to keep her hands from shaking.
The blonde haired girl refused to show any emotion as her father paced back and forth in front of her.

"You must become a champion, it would be embarrassing to our name if you weren't, Cassiopeia." He said sharply. This made Cassie freeze, her father was the only person to ever address her as Cassiopeia. She didn't like it one bit.

He'd called her into his study -technically, he told a house elf to fetch her- to speak with her. He had explained the Tri-Wizard tournament to her.

"After your little stunt at the World Cup..." Her father said with such distaste, "you should be thankful that I'm still allowing you to live here."

I'm your daughter? Cassiopeia thought bitterly. The lights in the study flickered slightly, she wasn't sure if her father noticed it though.

"Didn't you say the cup chose at random?" Cassie asked gently, warranting her father to throw her a furious glare. She looked back to her lap. That was her attempt to change the conversation away from her past.

"It will choose you." Lucius replied.

Cassie swallowed. How was she supposed to make it choose her?

"You will be one of the few students who knows of the tournament." He continued. "You will prepare in every spare moment you have. You will win each challenge."

It was the truth that Lucius Malfoy expected so much form his eldest daughter, but how was she supposed to do this?

"That is all." Lucius finished. "Leave my study."

Without saying a word, Cassie stood up and left. As she pushed the door open, she spotted a blonde head sneaking down the dimly lit hallway.

"Draco." Cassie said softly, making the boy turn back around.

When he looked at her, his eyes were full of worry.

"There's no need to eavesdrop, I would've told you everything." She said gently, as they walked down the dark hallway of Malfoy Manner.

"People have died in the tournament before, Cas." Draco finally said.

Cassie looked at her brother oddly. She thought for a moment about how she was probably one of the only people in the world to ever see him express emotions.

Cassie shook her head. "I won't, though."

Draco blinked at her. "You aren't going to actually enter are you?"

"I think we both know I don't have a choice."

Draco's expression showed that he agreed with her statement.

"Just be glad you're not of age, Draco." Cassie said swiftly, "Because I'd throw a fit at the very idea of you entering."

This made him frown even more. "Neither of us should be entering as it is."

"You're being dramatic. My championship would mean eternal glory for Slytherin, I'd be bringing pride to a house that is looked down on." Cassie said, more for herself than for Draco.

Draco sighed as he accepted defeat, knowing there was no arguing with his sister. "Eternal glory." He mumbled under his breath.

Draco and Cassie both stopped walking and turned to face the other, as they reached their bedrooms.
"Ready for tomorrow?" She asked gently, observing Draco's face.
