I spent the whole day being really bored , I know that Leo was with me but there's only so much that one person can do. My parents came back around lunch time and paid for the TV so that we could watch a movie. Nothing really good was on , I'd already seen it all before. We ended up watching Finding Nemo. I'd seen it before but only once or twice because I'm more of an outdoor person. While the film was on me and Leo sat together on the bed and Charlie sat in the chair. My parents didn't watch the film , they decided to go to the cafe because the room would have been too crowded if they stuck around.
"That was a good film" said Leo cheerily.
"You can tell that he's obviously going to find Nemo or the film would go on forever" I said glumly.
"Don't be such a grumplestiltskin" said Leo "Because me and Charlie have some great news"
"Really? Go ahead" I said hopefully
"The nurses said that we can take you out today as long as you're back here by 21:00" said Leo excitedly "So we have something really fun planned , you have a choice , do you want to take out crutches or a wheelchair?"
"Crutches , thank you so much Leo" I said hugging him "Oh , you too Charlie"
When he heared his name Charlie put up his head up and gave a little wave.
The boys went out of the room while I got changed. I wore a dress , it was winter but it's all I could have worn with the cast. It was a pink flowery dress and I put on one ballet flat shoe on my right foot without the cast. My Mom had put a makeup bag in my things with a little heart shaped post it note with a message on , the message said Charlie told us about you and Leondre , that's too adorable and if you happen to go out anywhere use what's inside this bag , I know you're not a big makeup girl but you might want to doll up now that you have Leondre , from your Mom x
This made me smile and when I emptied the bag it had in it all winter makeup , I don't use makeup on a daily basis like some girls but I can apply it well when I do. In the bag there was some foundation that matched my skin tone perfectly ; a selection of eye shadows in silvers , golds and nudes ; some waterproof mascara ; some black eyeliner and three different lipsticks in a pinkish nude , a bright pink and a brown nude. All of this was too much , this had never happened to me before. I decided that I would wear the makeup because it was all bought just for me. I sat on the bed and got out some makeup brushes which my Mom had also placed in my bag with my number 7 magnifying mirror which I'd bought in the airport , I placed this on the table. I put on my foundation , some silver eye shadow , black eyeliner , mascara and the nude pink lipstick. I looked way girly. When I was done I decided to leave my makeup on display on the table because I was proud to own it. I then put my denim jacket on over my dress and picked up my crutches to try out. They were much harder to use than I thought they would be. I hopped out into the waiting room and found the boys , Leo had also changed clothes because he'd been in the hospital over night too , somebody must have brought him a change. He walked over to me to give me a hand.
"This is going to take some getting used to" he said.
"She might be finding it hard because she's trying to balence her phone and use the crutches at the same time , maybe somebody could help her" suggested Charlie.
"Do you want me to put your phone in my pocket?" offered Leo.
I gave a quick nod and he took it off me and put it in the pocket of his hoodie.
"Let's get going , I rang a taxi and it should be outside any minute" warned Charlie who wanted to get out on time. We all caught the elevator down to the ground floor and got in the cab. Leo made me cover my ears when he told the driver where we were going.
Soon after we pulled up outside a carnival.
"A carnival?" I asked.
"It's the winter fair , you should still be able to have fun , there's a campfire at 19:00 and people get to sing so hopefully Charlie and I can have a turn" said Leo happily.
I was quite looking forward to it actually. I'd been to the practice but I'd never seen them on stage , this would be fun. I spent most of the night playing games and I had lots of fun.
Me , Leo and Charlie came across a test your strength game. Leo and Charlie both had a go and Charlie was stronger than Leo but they both won a prize. Charlie was going to give his prize to his sister Brooke and I eventually pursuaded Leo to do the same for Tilly. I couldnt play every game that the boys could but I eventually won a panda bear (teddy) playing ring toss. At 19:00 we made our way to the campfire , it looked amazing! We all sat down around it with other people who came to the fair and a man brought some instruments out from under a shelter and gave them to some other workers.
"Ok , who wants to sing everybody a little song?" asked the man looking for volunteers.
Eventually a little girl put her hand up and sang a little bit of One Thing by One Direction which was adorable because she was only about six years old.
I felt a little bit sick when I saw the man turn to me.
"Are you going to sing for us? I heared from somebody here that you can sing and play guitar.
"Who told you that?" I demanded trying not to sound too mean. Just as I asked this my Mom and Dad ran up to me and shouted "WE DID!" In sync.
Just as they sat down the man handed me a guitar and everybody turned silent.
"Um" I hesitated "I'm not sure what song to do" I said looking around to see if anybody had any suggestions.
"Do the song that you did at the county fair in the summer" my Dad said. I had been asked to perform a few songs in the county fair back home. I sang three songs at the county fair but I knew what one would fit the mood of the night.
"I guess most of you know this song so if you do then feel free to sing along in the chorus. I started strumming the guitar and everybody started swaying.
"#There's still a little bit of your taste in my mouth , there's still a little bit of you laced with my doubt , it's still a little hard to say , what's going on#" I sang , everybody seemed to be enjoying it and so was I.
"#Still a little bit of your ghost , your witness , there's still a little bit of your face I haven't kissed , you step a little closer each day , that I can't say what's going on#" I continued.
"#Stones taught me to fly , love taught me to lie , life taught me to die , so it's not hard to fall , when you float like a cannonball#" I was surprised to hear that Charlie had joined in , I needed to concerntrate on the guitar so I nodded at Charlie and he took the next verse.
In the last chorus everybody around the campfire joined in and some people were waving the lights on their phones. I finished off the song by adding an additional couple of lines almost in a whisper.
"#Stones taught me to fly , love taught me to lie , life taught me to die so it's not hard to fall , when you float like a cannonball , no , when you've flown like a cannon ....... ball# "
Everybody then clapped and everybody looked happy to be together. I'd been feeling a little homesick previously but now I thought that I'd fit in just right.
