CHAPTER SIX: What if

Jessica's Pov

'Jess' Josie called out and in the blink of an eye it was gone

'Did you see that？' I asked still glued to the spot

'See what？' she asked scrunching her eyebrows in confusion

'The wolf, it was here just now' I said looking more confused myself

'You saw a wolf...here？ no way' she said with a wave of her right hand

'I definitely did, it looked too real to be my imagination' I said taking a seat near by

'I leave you for ten minutes and you are already hallucinating' she said laughing

I smiled trying to bite down a laughter, her laughter was contagious but I stopped when I noticed a mark on her neck like a hickey though it wasn 't； it was round and a little swollen

'What happened' I asked pointing to the spot on her neck

'Umm...I got bitten by a rat and unfortunately we gotta go, got to treat this' she said pulling me up. 'What kind of big ass rat was that' I thought to myself as we walked up to the car

'Can you drive？' she asked

'Yeah' I answered and she handed me the keys, she kept acting weird on the way home and I swear I heard her growl a couple times

We got to my place and as soon as Claire saw her...

'You got marked' she asked in shock

'What？' I asked staring at her in confusion

'Jess...umm, I need to take her to the hospital uhh...she's been marked by a rat, it could get infected' she said

'Marked？' I asked raising a brow

'Oh did I say marked？I meant bitten' she said and I couldn't help but notice how nervous and sweaty she was, rats must be pretty dangerous around here

'Ok, should I com...'

'No...don't worry I won't take long' she said and they left

'Josie's travelled for a cousins wedding, she won't be back till next week so I figured you'd need this' she said handing me a car key

'Oh my...thank you, thanks a lot' I said, a little surprised as to why Josie couldn't give me the info herself before leaving though

'Just be careful at school' she said

'I will' I assured

Everything felt different at school without Josie, the bell rang bringing History class to a halt. I went down to the cafeteria got my usual and took our usual table only this time I was alone...

'Hey, Jess right？' A cute broad chested, blue eyed guy with brownish hair askedd placing his tray beside mine

'Yeah' I repliedd, how did he know my name

'I'm Tyler' he said with a smile showing off his oh so cute dimples

'I live just a few blocks down from your place' he added

'Oh' I simply said

We talked all through lunch period except for the occasional hush to take a bite from our sandwich, he was really cool and easy to talk to and surprisingly we also had all our classes together-what are the odds

'Did you do your math homework' I asked Tyler

'Yeah, why？you didn't do it？ did ya？' he asked with a smirk

'I did it but I had a little problem with...' I stopped as Drew walked in

'Goodday class, assignments on my desk now； I had a change of heart and I'll be using it as your CA' he said and I mentally collapsed, I only answered one question right

Everyone went on to submit, I sat still thinking of what to do...

'Has everyone submitted？' he asked

I stood up, slowly walked over and placed mine on the pile already stacked up, we made eye contact and I instantly recalled the supposed wolf I imagined behind the oak tree. His eyes were just like Drews, exactly like his...

'Miss Jessica' Drew said snapping me out of my thought

'Please take your seat' he added and I realised I'd been just standing there staring at him

'Yea......Yes' I said as I awkwardly walked back to my seat, I could hear them talking about me but I ignored them

As he went on blabbing about the quadratic equation on the board, all I could think about was the assignment now turned test, why is this guy such a nail beneath my heels. The bell went off, everyone left and it was just I and Drew, I just can't afford to fail a CA

'Hey' I said with a smile, which was hard to fake for this particular human being

'Hmm, no angry eyes, no fingers in my face...is this Jessica or Melissa' he said with mischievous smile

'You know my name' I said astonished

'Yeah, its written right here on your paper' he said holding up my paper

'Oh？...yeah, I'm sorry I lied at the airport； I just don't trust strangers with the truth' I said holding up my fingers in quote

'Stranger？so I guess you no longer consider me a stranger？' he asked walking past his table

'Not real-ly' I said with a shaky voice taking a step back as he got really really close, I came to a halt when I hit a desk behind me

'Is there a problem？' he asked standing right in front of me, I tried to catch my breathe

'Ye......yeah' I stuttered, why am I even this nervous； just tell the jock what you waited to tell him

'Why did you wait behind' he asked taking a step further so that there was no space between us, I could literally feel his warm breathe on my cheek

'I...' I trailed off when I looked up and our lips brushed against each other, we both stood there breathing hard, atleast he was； I couldn't breathe

He suddenly withdrew back, cussing under his breathe like he'd just realised what happened, I on the other hand could finally breathe

'I came to ask if I could redo the CA' I finally asked

'Umm, yeah yeah' he said looking a little lost, I guess he felt guilty for trying to molest a student, was he？ and did he？

'Ok, thanks' I said and ran out

I went home but I couldn't keep my mind off of what happened at the class earlier, was he really going to kiss me and oh you useless little brain you foolishly would have just let him...I knew he was a psycho or a stalker or whatever

The week went by, I did my assignment with Tyler's tutorship help and submitted； for some weird reason I felt like Drew was avoiding me-I know we aren't friends or anything but Drew just wasn't Drew anymore, he put up a straight face whenever he saw me, at class at everywhere！ But why it bothered me was what annoyed me the most but I couldn't help it and I just kept thinking what if he kissed me

'Josie' I said as I ran out giving her a tight hug, I'd missed her a lot though I also gained a new friend； Tyler

'Jess so you know, I missed you too' she said and we both laughed, she looked different； radiant and more beautiful

'You left me' I said faking a sob

'Sorry, it was a short notice' she said

'Please forgive' she said with poppy eyes holding her hands up together； plea style

'Whatever！ you, come on' I said to her as we walked into the house
