I sat on my bed taking one last look at my room, my flight was in an hour and my life would never be the same again

'Baby girl' I heard Miki call downstairs

'Coming' I backed my backpack, picked up my luggage and dashed downstairs

'Leo' I said eyes wide open, I wasn't expecting him, we hadn't really talked since the other day

'Hey, Queenie' he said with a smile

I ran up to him wrapping my arms around his shoulder in a hug, we'd been through alot together and I was really going to miss him

'I thought you were mad at me' I said still in his embrace

'I could never, I was just sad is all' he said, Miki joined in the hug and we headed out to the car, where my aunt was already waiting. Miki took the shotgun while I and Leo sat back in the passenger's seat

'Call me when you get there' aunt said giving me a tight hug

'Babes, I'm going to miss you like mad! but this is the States we talking about, have fun and never forget to fill me in with all the gist' Miki said, giving me a hug/peck on the cheek

'Sure I will' I said returning the hug

'Queenie, umm I really suck at goodbyes...' I cut him shut as I pulled him into a hug

'I'll be back sooner than you can count 1-100' I said with a faint smile and gave him a peck

'Bye you guys' I said as I joined the line for my flight

'51, 52...' Leo began counting; I giggled and walked into the airplane

I sat by the window watching as they all waved goodbye until I couldn't see them anymore

It was a 19hours flight from Abuja to Los Angeles, almost a whole day 'this will be so boring' I thought to myself as I slumped down in my chair

'Hi' said a man who looked like he was in his early twenties

'Hi' I said awkwardly, I had never flown alone before so this was kind of new and a little terrifying and yes I was scared of heights so being on a plane high up in the air didn't make me feel any better

'You ok?' he asked, this time I took a good look at him

He was quite handsome; he had brown hair a square-shaped face with a pointed nose, his most attractive feature however were his green eyes.

'Yes' I said with a nod

'Your first time flying?' he asked

'No, M just not a big fan' I said raising my fingers in quote

'Oh, we could talk to keep your mind preoccupied' he said with smile

'I'm Andrew by the way but you can call me Drew' he added

'I'm Melissa' I lied; don't judge me I just wasn't fond of telling strangers my name

'That's a nice name, you know I have a cat called Melissa' he said with a smirk

Like seriously! Who calls their cat Melissa, I could tell he was trying hard to keep the conversation going so I cued in; it was a good distraction as he'd said.

'So, what brought you to Nigeria' I asked, and a smile crept up his face

'A friend's wedding...' he said

We talked for hours about him mostly; I literally lied on all questions he asked about my person

'Hey, we're here...' drew said, tapping me lightly on the arm

'...umm, wait, what?' I said, now eyes wide open

'Something wrong' Drew asked pulling his bags down

I had already lied to him, saying it wasn't my first time in LA, I mean I couldn't just tell a stranger I'm a novice

'No' I lied again!taking my phone outta my pocket I dialed the number my aunt had given me to reach the Johnsons but no one picked, I bit my bottom lip in frustration

'You coming or...' drew asked, holding his bag

'Yeah' I said standing up

Once we got out, I saw tons of people standing, holding boards with names written on them. I silently prayed my name was on one of those as I stood searching to see if I'd be so darn lucky

'Jessica!' a voice called
