What If instead of Lance escaping the blast the glara ship shot at him and red, he got hit and hurt very badly and wasn't able to pilot the Red Lion anymore.
what is the other thought he couldn't be a paladin anymore and retired Lance to just being...
Lance was out with his dear white, he was scrubbing the grind and dirt off her, as he cleaned her he told her all of his childhood, from the sad times to the happiest. The white lion hummed in response loving the feeling of her paladin nearby. lance smiles at white as a voice cut through the silences, "Lance" the voice belongs to the one and only Matt. Lance smiles as he turns and looks at the other human on the plant, as he calmly says "Hey Matt, what's up."
"Oh I wanted to come and see you before I left," Matt says as he rubs the back of his head. The tall Cuban male eyes widen as he quickly says, "What!! Where are you going, why "
"Boss is sending me to an intel base, and with doing this I, will fake my death," Matt said and bit his lip a bit. Lance nodded as he says, " can I come to visit you sometimes."
Matt shakes his head no as he says, " The base is surrounded with Galra ships, and with you in white, you be easily spotted and don't say ' I could go invisible' I don't want you to risk it, the rebellion needs you."
Lance was about to say something but before he could he was interrupted by a female voice, "Hey matt,"
Matt and lance look over at a girl, she was around 6'1 and was covered in a coat of fur with dog ears. Matt nods at her and when she lance she smiles as she says, "hello lance, oh and matt it's about for you to know, die I mean to go on that mission for intel."
Matt nodded as he looked over at lance and says proudly, and dramatic, "It is time for me to go on this wonderful mission to free all the captured and come back alive. "
The girl chuckled a bit as Lance smiles a bit he as he nodded as he says, " Alright, just be careful, pull out if you need to."
Matt nodded as he and the girl started to leave, and as they walk the girl says softly, "does he ever laugh, cuz he never smiles unless he talking to you,"
"Sadly I have never heard him laugh, and I only recently got him to smiles, I worry what will happen to him after I'm gone, I hope he can keep his sports up. "Matt says as he glances back at lance. He was back to cleaning the white lion and talking to her.

Allura, Shiro, Pidge, and Lotor all sat at a circle table talking and planning their next move. Pidge sighs as she lays down her tablet with information, she then sighs loudly as she says, "We don't know where he is and if he even is this new savor or if he not."
"Green paladin he most defiantly is, who else would be in a large white flying thing that happens to look like a lion. " Prince Lotor says as he sat straight in his seat.
"mhm, we need to focus on finding him and finding a way to break the bond and save lance from the clutches of the murdering white lion, "Shiro says making his Galra arm into a fist. Lotor sighed quietly to himself as he says, " you should know Black paladin that no lion of Voltron can be destroyed, so there is sadly no hope for Lance."
"How could you say that, we will save lance," Allura says and sends a small glare at Lotor. The Galren prince put on a sad face as he said, "My dear princess Allura, we already know that lance is the paladin of white, which means there is no way for lance not to have made a deal, which means the white lion already has lance soal. which means as his friends the only good thing you could do is put him out of misery."
"NO way am I going to kill lance, no one is, "PIdge screamed at lotor as she stood up angrily. The prince slightly rolled his eyes as he said, "Don't you see that he already dead, the white lion took his soal, which means he only a puppet for white."
Pidge looked down as she sat down, she knew lotor was right, maybe it was for the best to kill Lance. But what about the others would the realize they are saving lance by killing him, that his soal is already gone and he just a puppet to the white lion now. Pidge made a fist under the table, she didn't want to, Lance was like a brother and she couldn't lose him and maybe matt as well.
"WE can't give up, we have to find a way," Shiro says trying to be confident but he knew deep down this was the only. Lotor nodded as he pushed some of his hair to behind his back as he said, "Alright, but you should let the others know, so they have time to prepare, also know if they could do or if they fail the team."
Shiro looked down as he said, "It may be hard for Hunk, they are close friends, "
"Then maybe we should take him off the team until lance is taken care of, and what about Keith," Lotor said as he put on a sad face.
"I don't know, he been acting differently, I think it's him trying to get used to being in red agian, and also keeping up BOM training, " Shiro says as he glances at everyone.
Lotor nodded as he stood up and says, "I think you all should rest and think this through, and how you will tell the other, I see you in two days tops for our next meeting."
With that said the prince left the room leaving three paladins sitting in a room having no idea what to talk about, after a few minutes Allura was the first to speak up as she says, "lotor was right, we all should get some sleep."
Shiro nodded in agreement as helped pidge get up and headed to their bedroom, for a restless night.
