Izaya was a boy who, at will, could turn into a dragon. He was fierce, loyal, and strong. The fact that he was strong made him a very nice opponent to other dragons who were wanting a good fight. Most of his opponents were full dragons, meaning they couldn't turn into a human no matter how hard they tried.
Izaya had a very strong sense of stubborn pride that coursed through his veins. This was common for a dragon, but this also effected him as a human. He would never accept help from anyone. If he was bleeding to death in a pitch black alleyway, he still wouldn't ask for help. The raven-haired boy didn't trust anyone. He had been abused early in his childhood. He remembered how his family had reacted when he full on turned into a dragon in front of their very eyes. They immediately panicked and called the government. They took him away, not understanding the anatomy of a human hybrid, especially a dragon human hybrid. So that fact made him a test subject right away.
They stuck needle after needle into his lithe body. Slit him open and rummaged around in his organs and flesh. They did weird tests to see how he reacted to certain things. And they never stopped for a second. He was locked tightly away in a cell, not coming in contact with any human that wasn't going to either hurt him or run tests on him. After awhile the dragon side of him took over his mind more and more. Soon he just didn't trust humans in general. He didn't trust anyone no matter what they said or did.
The experiments went on for seven years. Meaning that he was taken away from his family when he was sixteen years old. And the mysteries of the human dragon hybrid still weren't discovered. Wanting and trying to get out, Izaya would pound on his cell door so hard, it would cause his hands to bleed. He would ram into it with so much strength, his ribs would snap. He did whatever he could to get out of that cell, almost always bringing bodily harm upon himself. He would cry all the time, hoping someone would save him from the hell he was being put through. It was the middle of the night sometime in December when Izaya finally cracked and had enough. He burst through the door of the his cell in his dragon form, snarling and glaring at the scientists that trembled before him. It was then when the head guard, Zinnia, came dashing towards him.
She glared right back at Izaya, her cold yellow eyes showing no sign of fear. Her black hair was tied in a long side-ponytail, long bangs covering her left eye. The black leather jumpsuit she wore molded into her curvy form. Her golden eyes stared daggers at the dragon. She quickly pulled out her pistol.
"You know what happens when you don't obey." She purred like a panther in a mockingly dangerous tone.
"You get killed. Isn't that right, Izaya?"
The black dragon stared at the woman before him. Fear was evident in his blood red eyes. This woman had hurt him so many times it would be hard not to fear her. He growled lowly.
The woman laughed insanely.
"I thought you were smarter than this. I guess this is what I should've expected of a stupid dragon such as yourself. If you think you're getting out of here, you're sorely mistaken!" And with that she pulled the trigger.
A large sliver bullet flew across the hall, piercing Izaya's chest. It went past his soft black scales, and sunk into his flesh. Crimson red blood gushing out of the wound. His eyesight went blurry, pain coursing through his body. He could feel his earlier wounds of abuse and self harm ache in reaction to the bullet in his chest. With every drop of his own warm blood he got weaker.
. . .But he wouldn't give up.
Opening his mouth to show rows of razor sharp fangs, he screeched. He struggled as he clawed at the scientists that were trying to hold him down. As soon as he felt their grip loosen he sprinted down the hall, getting closer and closer to the exit. His only worry now was if he was going to live but he pushed that thought into the back of his mind. The black dragon lifted his legs, taking to the sky as soon as he got out of the building. Behind him he could hear the angry yelling of Zinnia.
The stars and moon shined brightly in the sky as Izaya soared elegantly over the sea. The place they took him had been a small island off the coast, near Japan. The dragon decided that was where he would go. He felt the nippy weather of winter on his scales, making him unbelievably cold. The wound in his chest still gushing out blood, he hurt all over and felt his mind go slightly fuzzy. He soon saw lights ahead of him; the lights of Ikebukuro.
Shizuo sat at his desk, still working on paperwork. His boss, Tom, was always giving him paperwork to fill out. During the day when he was actually working he never had time to accomplish it. He ran a hand through his thick blonde hair. "How the hell am I ever gonna get this finished?" He asked himself, signing his name at the bottom of another paper.
Shizuo was a quite normal young man. Nothing ever happened to him really. The only thing different about him was maybe his hair or maybe how he dressed. Otherwise he was just like most people. He worked as a businessman for his friend's company. Shizuo was at the top of the ranks. He was second in command and he was quite proud of it too. He would go to work, go home, sleep, and repeat the process all over again the next day. And the day after that, and the day after that; this was his cycle. It never really changed. Nothing new or exciting ever came his way. His parents died when he was little and he hadn't gotten in touch with his younger brother, Kasuka, in years. He was independent this way. Although, he couldn't help but feel. . . alone.
He got up from his desk and walked over to his small kitchen. The blonde man pulled out a container of instant ramen and placed it in the microwave. He set the timer to exactly 5 minutes and walked away. There really wasn't much for him to do other than his paperwork, but he was getting quite bored and frustrated with that. The blonde decided that he'd just see what was on tv. The minute he turned on the screen without even getting to turn on the cable box, he heard a crash. A very loud crash and then a scream, no, it was more like a. . . screech.
Shizuo's eyes went wide as his heartbeat sped up. 'What the hell was that?!' He thought, worry and alarm running through his mind. What was he supposed to do? Go towards where the noise came from? He stood there, frozen in his small apartment's living room, when he finally came to the conclusion that he had no choice really. And wasn't this the kind of adventure he'd been wanting all his life anyway?
He quietly walked across his cold wooden floor to the bathroom, the place where he traced the noise came from. He stood in front of the door for a moment, thinking about what would be on the other side.
He had no clue.
Burglars? A murderer? A fugitive? A mutated rat that wanted to rip him limb from limb?! Panic was still running through him like a drug. His life was so simple and now all of a sudden a loud screech, that sounded way too much like a big animal for his comfort, and a crash were coming from his bathroom! Shizuo closed his eyes, taking a few deep breaths. He was overreacting and would probably find out that it was just some bird that crashed through the window and knocked something over before it died.
But that conclusion didn't make sense.
What about that screech? And how he could tell something was moving in there. It sounded like too big of a crash to be a bird as well. Plus how the hell could a bird smash a window? Shizuo swallowed the lump that was forming in his throat. He grabbed the doorknob and twisted it slowly. The door opened and he closed his eyes, taking a step inside. Not once in his entire life did he think he would be so scared of his own bathroom. He opened his mocha colored eyes only to be greeted with one of the most terrifying things he had ever seen.
There, lying in his bathtub bleeding heavily, was a dragon.
