Izaya woke up to a horrible pain in his side. Slowly he checked to see if his wound was bleeding again, which luckily, it wasn't. It was at that moment though that he remembered about the bullet hitting him and the awful guard Zinnia. He felt tears prick the corners of his eyes as the petrifying memories took over his mind. He slowly fell back asleep, the memories of his past still running through his mind like a movie.
White.
White everywhere.
White on the ceiling, white on the walls. White on the people, white in the halls.
Big sharp needles and unknown liquids. Gleaming knives and cold tables.
Doctors and nurses untrusted; guards feared.
Locked away in black.
Red and pain.
Slamming and squirming, bruising and bleeding.
Tears and solitude. Alone. No one to be trusted.
Light on; light off. Frightening darkness and moving shadows.
Voices.
Pain.
Tears.
Darkness.
No escape.
Izaya woke up once again, screaming. He was sweating and trembling like a leaf. Shizuo was right next to him and bolted awake the minute he heard Izaya's bloodcurdling shriek. The blonde looked over at the raven. Izaya was as pale as a ghost and clutching the blankets as he shook uncontrollably. Tears were streaming down his face as scared whimpers escaped his chapped lips. Shizuo quickly enveloped Izaya in a tight embrace, feeling horrible for the small man. Getting badly injured, almost dying, and now night terrors? The poor guy seemed to just never get cut any slack.
"Izaya, what's wrong? Hm?" Shizuo asked softly, rubbing soothing circles on Izaya's back as he held the scared, trembling man.
"I-I can't. . ."
"You can't what?. . ."
". .H-help. . . M-me. . ."
"Help you, what? Izaya what's wrong? What happened?"
Shizuo was scared.
Scared for the raven in his arms, who wasn't hugging him back. Izaya seemed limp and lifeless in Shizuo's arms. But the small male was still awake, his eyes filled with fear and tears as he gasped out pleas of "help." The raven looked like he was in a daze or trance. He kept staring past Shizuo and out into the hallway; as if something in the distance was going to move or something was going to happen.
Shizuo kept holding the raven close, still wondering what was going on and why Izaya was acting like this. He didn't have to wait very long to find out. The small male cried out in Shizuo's embrace and clawed at the bigger male. The blonde looked at Izaya, frightened.
"Izaya what's wrong? Dammit Izaya, talk to me! . . .I-Izaya?"
The raven listened to nothing the blonde said. His eyes were focused on the dark shadows coming near him and consuming him. He felt like he couldn't breathe as they closed the space around him. Izaya was helpless as his nightmares came towards him. The darkness he feared so greatly, swallowing him whole just like he knew it eventually would. It was just like back in the small pitch black cell he was in for seven years.
All the frightening images piled into his mind. The blood oozing from the cuts on his arms and legs along with abusive wounds he received from the guards aching painfully. The darkness being the only thing he saw for days on end as he felt his blood pool around himself, making his hair wet and his clothes stick to his body. The smell of his own blood making him sick to the point he felt he could throw up; the uncleanliness making it even worse. The pain and the fear mixed together in an awful nightmare of a reality.
