(5) "A Do Over."

A week later

It was another start of a long ass week. Some of the staff had already been sent home to isolate. Brooklyn had been avoiding Bucky when it was the end of the work day.

"Morning ladies.." Bucky said as he came down the hall.

"Morning Dr Barnes." Some of them said.

Brooklyn came out of a quarantined room pulling off her gown and gloves. "Ms Dallas.." he said

"Yes. Did you need something?" She said

"I have a very special case. You and I will be the only ones in her room." He said as they walked down the hall.

"Why is she special?" She said

"My ex mother in law is on her way here. Nikki called me to tell me. Her mother works as a nurse at a pediatrician's office. She was sent home with a fever and cough." He said

"Oh okay. Well come find me when she gets here.." she said as she walked away.

"Brooklyn are you mad at me? Cause I feel like I may have said something wrong the other night the way you bolted." He said

"It wasn't anything you said Dr Barnes. I have to go.." she said but was cut off by screaming.

They both went running. "Emma Emma wake up." Jules another nurse said

Emma the sweet soft spoken nurse was on the floor. "What the hell happened?" Brooklyn said as she dropped to her knees.

"She said she was feeling faint.." Jules said

Emma was moved to a room Jules and Brooklyn got her hooked up. "101.2.." Brooklyn said as she wrote her temp.

"Oh Em.." Jules said

"She's been working 48 straight hours she hasn't even gone home." Brooklyn said as they zipped up the plastic.

They stripped their gowns and gloves. Bucky was paged downstairs.

"I've got this one." Bucky said when he seen Gabriella.

When he got to her bed he said "Hey gorgeous.."

"Oh James you stop it." She said as he pushed her bed to the elevator.

"I told you one day you would end up needing my medical expertise." He said

"You look like your daddy right now James. How are your folks?" She said

"They are good. They were vacationing in Hawaii but was able to make it back the day before travel was banned." He said

"Must be nice to be retired..me and Deacon still have one that lives at home." She said as she began to cough.

"Troy needs to grow up." He said as he pushed her off the elevator and into the hall.

"You leave my baby alone. You took my other baby away with you.." she said

He smiled at her but she couldn't see it. "She is being safe isn't she James." She said

"The school has closed down. So Vannie is home with her. Nikki can only hold zoom meetings with parents if they need help with any of the homework being sent out." He said as he got her set up in a room.

There was a knock on the door he looked to see Brooklyn. "Gabby darlin this is Brooklyn Dallas she is going to be your nurse. You be nice and don't give her any problems. She's a vet like me..so you behave." He said as he blew her kiss.
