(14) Family Meeting

Three months later

"Family meeting at the house. We will have dinner at 630 after dinner we will have a big family discussion." -James

Bucky: "dad?"
Bradley: "Is it mom?"
Branson: "What's going on dad? That's a very vague text and we haven't had one of these since we all left home."
Brandon: ^^
Ruthie: "I second what Branson said dad"
Becca: "What about the grandkids?"
James:" we will talk when you all get here. And the kids can come too they can play in the playroom."

Bucky read the text chain as he ate his bowl of cereal. Brooklyn stood beside him he kissed her now six month baby bump.

"Hey little guy. I hope you are being nice to mama." He said as he rubbed her bump.

A month ago they were celebrating their gender reveal that they were expecting a baby boy. But by the end of the night Winnie was confused. James had set up an appointment for her with a neurologist.

After their work day was over they all pulled into James and Winnie's driveway. After a small dinner James took Winnie upstairs to lay down.

He look at all six of his kids their significant others with the saddest look.

"Your mama..is in the beginning stages of Alzheimer's. The doctor said right now she is suffering from Sundowners which is why when it starts to get dark she starts to get confused." James said

"You were right James." Bradley said remembering their conversation.

"What do you mean Bradley?" James said

"Back in the Hamptons. Mom and me got into it the day before we left. She had it in her head that me and Nikki were still married and that Brooklyn was the other woman." Bucky said

"I wish you would have told me son. We would have known this sooner. But for now..to keep from scaring the kids don't bring them around when it starts to get dark. If we are having something then we need to plan it during the day for now." James said

"Okay." Brandon said

"As far as the new baby goes. The doctor suggested that you two make the decision on your own. But he said her memory loss will get worse and when that happens the more confused she will get. He said that she may start to think the grandkids are you all." James said

Bucky wiped a tear. "Dad what about you? If she starts to go back in time she's gonna be confused as to why you are home all the time." Bucky said

"I don't know son. We just have to all work together be there for each other. This is going to be the toughest thing we will ever have to face in our family." James said

"So I guess we all need to go before she comes back down here." Ruthie said

"Yeah.." James said

He walked them all out and said goodbye to the grand babies. While they were laying in bed Bucky had his hand Brooklyn's bump.

"Let's get married baby." He said

"I already said yes." She said

"No I mean let's just plan a small wedding. We can get married at the Botanical Gardens in Brooklyn. Just make it family and a few friends." Bucky said

"Small reception. An early Saturday afternoon." She said

"Sounds perfect baby. I will call my grandmother in the morning to have her help get it set up." He said

She kissed him. "Love you."

"Love you gorgeous." He said as they cuddled up and went to sleep.
