As soon as he laid down in his own bed the night before, he was sleeping in an instant. It was a dreamless and painless night. He simply felt like he was just floating and existing without the pain, without any harm. It was peaceful.

That is until he woke up and felt pain all over again. The pain killers had only lasted so long, and now his whole body ached like no other pain he'd ever experienced. So he simply laid in his bed for most of the morning, thinking.

He thought about the things that had happened to him the night before, the days before and anything that came to mind. Then he remembered that Lucas' friend Dustin and his friend El were supposed to come over today. Mike could only hope that this El was his El. It could just be too good of a coincidence, but then again he might have luck for the first time in forever.

But just thinking that El could be coming home to him made excitement and motivation pump through him. It gave him enough strength to sit up and get out of bed, walking into the kitchen to smell food being prepared.

"Sleeping Beauty! You're up!" Lucas exclaimed as he saw his friend enter the room.

"Barely." Mike yawned, sitting down at the island to see what it was that Lucas was preparing.

"I made bacon and eggs, you want some?" Lucas asks, turning around to face Mike.

"Yeah." Mike mumbled, yawning once again.

"How's your side?"

"It feels awful. You have any more of those pills?" Mike asks. "Yeah, hang on." Lucas rummages around in the cupboards for a few moments before pulling out a small bottle and tossing it to him, along with handing him another glass filled with water.

He mutters a quiet 'thank you' before gulping two of the white tablets down. Moments later Lucas put a large plate of food in front of him. "I know it looks like a lot, but I figured you would still be pretty hungry."

Mike gave him a small smile filled with gratitude before beginning to eat. "You know, I'm really glad I have you as a roommate instead of Max or Will." Mike mentions casually.

"Oh really? Why's that?" Lucas chuckles, sitting down next to him with a plate of his own.

"Because you're really kind to me. You're like the first person to give that to me. So thank you.."

Lucas gives him a smile before replying. "Well I don't know what other way I'd treat you, I mean, I can't imagine how you're feeling right now. Plus, you're my best friend. I know you don't remember anything, but you've been there for me almost my whole life. Now I'm going to be here for you the same way you were for me."

"Thank you." Mike says quietly. Lucas truly won't know how much that actually meant to him, but just hearing those words made everything feel okay for a few seconds.

Lucas clears his throat, slightly embarrassed from his brief emotional moment, before changing the subject. "So um, you nervous about today?"

"Today?" Mike asks in question.

"Y'know.. El is supposed to come over today." That's right. He got totally distracted and forgot about it.

"Oh. Right."

"Why do you look so down? You should be excited from what you've said about her!" Lucas exclaims, nudging his shoulder playfully.

"Well.. what if it's not her? What if it's just some other girl named El? What if Owens was right? That she isn't actually real-"
