It had been over 2 weeks since El had admitted the truth about the Simulation to Mike. Ever since then, he hasn't seen or talked to El much, despite everything they talked about. To be honest, Mike needed some time to process everything. It was a lot to take in.Between finding out a little from El's past and finding out that El was also behind the Simulation; Mike had a lot to think about. In these past two weeks, Mike has spent most of his time in his room. It's not that he didn't want to see his friends, because he did, he just wanted to think everything through and think about what was going to happen next?
So what now? Was the question that circulated around his brain for the past weeks. Was he just supposed to see El again and pretend none of that happened? How would they continue their friendship? Would it become something more or would it stay the same?
Mike didn't want to overstep any boundaries, especially with everything she confessed to him about living in the lab for a majority of her life. Living there caused her emotional, mental and physical trauma, and Mike was an awkward guy- he didn't really know what to do in situations when someone was upset.
To make a long story short, he just wanted to know what was happening next. So, he finally decided to come out of his room after a few days.
When he walked out of his room he saw Lucas standing in the kitchen talking to Max. "There he is! What are you doing in there, hibernating? It's been like.. 2 weeks man." Lucas chuckled, bringing his attention to his lanky friend.
"Yeah," Mike responded awkwardly. "Just y'know, thinking about stuff, I guess."
"Hm well, it's about time you used that brain of yours. You hungry? I just put the chips away, I can get them back out if you want?" Lucas asked, but Mike declined with the shake of his head.
"Is um, El coming over again soon?" Mike asked hesitantly.
"Mikey got a crush?" Max teased.
Mike rolled his eyes at the redhead but simply ignored her. "As far as I know, her and Dustin aren't coming over, but I have their number so you can call and make plans." Lucas said.
"Oh okay, sure. I'll do that." Mike replied quietly. Lucas nodded and pulled out his phone, he searched through his contacts and pulled El's number up before handing the phone to Mike.
"Thanks." He mumbled before grabbing the phone and shuffling back into his dark room. He clicked the small phone icon and held the phone up to his ear as he listened to it dial.
A few moments later he heard the receiver pick up. "Hello?" Her voice came through the speakers of the phone like waves rushing to the shore, smooth and crystal clear.
"Hey, it's Mike."
"Oh, hey! I haven't heard from you in a while, how are you doing?" She asked sweetly.
"I'm okay. I've been thinking about everything you told me and I was wondering if we could meet up and talk again? I guess there's some things I don't really understand." Mike asked.
"Yeah, sure! I'm free tomorrow afternoon if you want to meet up then?" She chirped back happily.
"Great. Want to meet at the park near your apartment around noon?"
"Yeah, that works!!"
"Sounds good. I'll see you there- or did you want me to walk with you? I know you don't like going places by yourself, so I could meet you at your apartment.."
"Oh, yeah! That would be great, thank you." El answered. Mike could practically see her smile as if she were standing right in front of him. Soon after they hung up and Mike walked out of his room with a big smile on his face, although he wasn't aware of it.
