I didn't notice that I had eventually fell asleep until someone was shaking me.
"It's your turn, last round cupcake," I let out a sigh of relief, last round.
The referee walked over to the benches where I was sitting and said, "This is the last fight of the night, so it's a knife fight. Knives are allowed, but you only can stab the opponent one time in a non killing place."
I nodded and grabbed my pocket knife that was in my bag, I checked its sharpness before walking into the ring, my heart was pounding. I may have been trained, but not very well with knives.
I looked at the audience to see everyone was leaning in to get a closer view. I noticed lots of the men were betting, a huge stack of cash in the middle. My eyes widened, Were people waiting to see this fight?
I quickly side glanced to the hill, I could see a figure, but I went against my gut and doubted it was him.
My final challenge was a girl my size, her arms were covered in tats and she was sneering. She smirked, must of known I was staring.
The bell rang and the audience went silent, the girl charged at me, but I was ready for her, considering her whole 'team' did the same thing.
I had my knife ready for it as she ran into it, hitting her in the shoulder. I turned rapid as I punched her easily knocking her out, that didn't stop me as I continued punching her limp body.
I was getting pulled off of her when I turned around a worried Mason was standing in front of me. "Are you sure your okay?"
I didn't get a chance to reply, I felt a shocking but something painful in my back. I snaked my hand around grabbing the thing that was causing me pain. It was one of the ninja star things with blades.
I immediately dropped it and turned around looking to see who the culprit was, and standing there was my smirking opponent, who I was sure I had knocked out.
Blood was dripping down my back, and it wasn't a little.
I started feeling nausea taking over, I didn't last long as standing became to much work. I fell to my knees, and then to my back.
I saw Mason crouched by me, yelling something I couldn't understand. Behind him was a worried looking leader.
I saw the figure on the hill, running but he was too late, paramedics were already taking me away, Mason by my side.
I took one last look at my surroundings and blacked out.
-------------
When I woke up, I was unable to open my eyes because of the brightness, my body drained of all energy it had. I couldn't move any of my limps or even talk for that matter.
Wait a minute... am I.... Paralyzed?
'Of course not you dimwit.' My body was yelling at me by twitching my hands and toes.
"Doc, she's moving!" A heavy tone rang through the silence in the room. Who said that again? "Hang in there cupcake!"
Mason, my friend, more like buddy, was here with me. His voice sounded more mature from the last time I had heard it. How long have I been out?
I felt an air mask being placed over my head, I moved my head to get it off.
"Come on kid! It's an emergency," A man said, I am guessing was the doctor. The doctor fumbled with the mask before putting the mask back on.
I felt a surge of movement from my bed, and the doc wasn't wrong. Alarms were blaring and echoing in the halls.
My eyes fluttered open, and what I saw took me off guard.
