But what I saw wasn't what I thought it was going to be, as an angry Oscar stood in front of my bed. His anger wasn't at me, it was focused at Mason who was by my side.
There were a few tough looking guys behind Oscar, cold expressions on every single one of them. I looked at what they were holding, sub machine guns, all pointing towards us.
The doctor behind me had his hands up, and Mason was returned the cold look. He squeezed my hand, not knowing if I were still there.
You know, being in a gang hasn't changed me, I was scared. I backed up on my bed, I was trapped. I couldn't get away from the gun barrels pointed at our heads.
The hospital was a wreck, nurses and doctors were running through the halls, panic evident on their faces.
Mason asked a question I was sure he would regret, "Are you okay Cupcake?"
I nodded my head and looked back to Oscar, his eyes were a pit of fire, he was fuming. My eyes widened as he reached around his back, memories of when he had shot my mom came running back, playing like a movie in my head.
"NO!" I yelled dramatically, but I was to late. The gunshot had rung through my ears, I watched Mason tumble to the ground. Eyes widening when he wasn't making a move to get up, I was beyond scared.
My eyes were watering as I was picked up bridal style by one of Oscars men.
Nurses and doctors rushed to Masons side, seeing if there was anything they could do. Some were watching me get taken away, some on their cells calling 911.
Oscars men were carrying me down the corridor, Oscar in pursuit, I stared, he looked as cold as a statue outside in winter.
"Stop," He ordered the men. "Let me carry her,"
My eyes again widened in fear, my brain stopped calculating anything. The guy who risked his life for you, may have just killed your best friend.
"Don't touch me," It was more of a squeak then I wanted it to be. I was hitting the mans chest who was holding me, squirming in any way I could.
But it didn't stop Oscar, he walked up to the guy who was holding me and they transferred me into his arms. I could feel his heartbeat, slow and steady, while mine was about to break away from its cage.
He sensed me staring at him, "Why do you keep staring at me?"
I was angry, frightened, and sad all at the same time, "You killed my best friend! You're a killer!"
"The one that called you cupcake? Trust me, he wasn't your friend," He said, sounding controlling or possessive.
"And how would you know that?" I screamed at him like my life depended on it. I was beyond furious, he thought he knew me so well! "You hardly even know me! You think you can barge in and control it, you're a monster!"
He opened his mouth to say something but quickly shut it. Not wanting to make matters worse, he starts walking again. His guards a few meters ahead waiting at a car.
Oscars 'cold' face, had made a return, his jaw clenched, fists balled, and lips were pressed in a tight line.
Neither one of us dared to talk, the tension in the air was killing. Even the men, all of their stances were tense.
When Oscar and I had gotten to where the guards and cars were at, I decided this was my chance of escape. I needed back in the hospital, friends don't leave each other.
Oscar set me down making sure I was steady. He turned to open the car door, I made a run for it, well, tried the best I could to run. I staggered back to the entrance.
I bursted through the doors and staggered to the desk. The lady knew what I was here for, she turned her head and pointed to the elevator. "1st floor and room 117," I saw Oscar running through the doors and to the closing elevator where I was standing inside.
A breath of relief went through me as he was too late and the elevator doors had already closed.
I walked into the corridor looking for room number 117. My back killing me, still sore.
I found the room and saw Mason lying in bed. He smiled weakly when he saw me, "Your okay!"
