Chapter Seventeen

Location: Queen Mansion
Time: 12:00 am

"This is really good kid, since when do you know how to cook?" Oliver asked as I washed the dishes.

"I've been on this earth for years, and traveled about most of this world, you'd think I'd pick up some skills" I told him.

"Well it's really good, maybe you should visit more often" Oliver said happily stuffing his face.

"Sure no problem, and thanks again for convincing Bruce to let me stay here a few days" I said in relief.

"It's fine as long as you stay in sight at all times, besides I know how stressing being in a team is and the whole gig sometimes you just need a break" he explained.

"Yea but you're team and gig is different! You actually go on missions, you save lives everyday, I wish I could do that I just sit around waiting for orders and train with a bunch of kids" I explained crossing my arms a bit annoyed.

"That's true but I'm sure you do a lot of other stuff" Oliver said trying to sound convincing that I was busy.

"Yea plenty of other stuff" I said rolling my eyes.

I sat down next to Oliver drinking positive B blood in a tall glass cup and ate raw salmon in lemon juice.

"Guess I should get used to all you're meals" Oliver said coughing a bit as he watched me eat the fish.

"Yea sorry, I decided to go easy on you, tonight I'm thinking some fresh deer meat" I said licking my lips at the taste.

"How about we just go out to eat with Canary" Oliver suggested.

"You're loss" I said with a shrug.

A few seconds passed by when we heard the doorbell ring.

"I'll get it" I said quickly pushing back my chair to get up.

"No no I'm done just keep eating, I'll get it don't worry kid" Oliver said putting his hand on my shoulder keeping me seated.

Once he opened the door the familiar scent filled the room, and my ears couldn't help but to eavesdrop.

"Roy, what a surprise" Oliver said unamused.

"I came to see her, I know she's here" Roy said stubbornly in the same unamused voice.

"Look maybe it's not the best idea to see her, she's doing fine don't worry she just needs some time alone okay" Oliver said in a lower and calmer tone.

"I've been patient enough I need to see her now" Roy said louder and angrier.

"I'm sorry Roy, this isn't, I can't let you see her, maybe this is what she needed time alone from everyone, and she needs more time, bye Roy" Oliver said as calmly as he could and slammed the door shut.

He came back in as nothing happened but the tension around me was so clear as the days sky.

"Thank you Oliver, I just cant deal with him now and he's gunna try to do something stupid without a doubt" I said.

"Anything for you kid, I just wish I knew what this was all about" Oliver admitted.

"I'm sorry but it's just not the right time, I know you and canary are deeply concerned with me but I just can't right now I'm sorry" I said turning myself away from him, how was I supposed to tell him everything that was going on with me doing this operation and having this child.

"I'm gunna go outside I need to eat some real food" I said walking to the back.

"Yea I'm going to close the door to the cave so Roy doesn't try to pull something stupid again, I swear sometimes I just don't know what you see in him kid" Oliver said jokingly.
