I woke up to Ellie shaking my shoulder telling me that the storm is over. I rub the sleep out of my eyes and stretch, "What time is it?"

"The next morning." Ellie tells me. Well damn I didn't think I'd sleep that long, "guess you were tired from the night before." Ellie says in an almost bitter tone. I just roll my eyes and get up, it's not even worth a comment back. Ellie and I make our way back to the horses so we can be back in Jackson and away from each other. As we get closer to the gates Ellie speaks up.

"I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt you and I didn't want to stop talking to you, but I had to." Ellie tells me.

"Why?"

"It's just personal reasons. I never meant to hurt you." I stay quiet and Ellie sighs.

"Well you did hurt me Ellie. A lot." I kick on Shadow to tell her to move faster and I hear Shimmer speed up as well. When we get through the gate we are greeted by Tommy and Joel. I jump off of Shadow and hand her to the stables manager and walk away. Ellie tries to speak to me again but I don't let her. The last thing I hear is Joel's comment to Ellie, "I'm guessing it never worked?" proving to me that it was planned and I guess Ellie was in on it too. I go straight to Alaina's and explain to her what happened while on patrol.

"Huh I wonder why she's trying to talk to you now." I shrug at her, "I don't know maybe you should try talking to her? Get some closure and figure out what happened between you two." Alaina suggests.

"Yeah no way Laina. I asked her and she said 'personal reasons' like what type of excuse it that?"

"I don't know Lils but it wouldn't hurt you to try and be more nice towards her. Who knows you guys could be friends again. You were always so close before."

"Yeah we were until Ellie ruined it." Alaina looks at me like she wants to say something but doesn't. I don't bother asking her what cause at the moment I really don't care. All I know is Ellie has ignored me for 3 years and now wants to talk to me again? What's up with that?

"Well Lils I just want you to be happy. Ellie is the only person you're not all sunshines and daisies with. You know I love that about you, and seeing you either upset or only civil with someone is a scary thing to see." I turn to Alaina and see the concern in her eyes. Maybe I'll try to be a little bit more friendly with Ellie. Just maybe though.

"Okay Alaina. I will maybe try." She smiles at me, "That's all I ask." We sit in silence until she speaks up again, "How on earth is Caleb only mediocre? I've had a day to process this and I still can't."

"I don't know why don't you go give him a try and maybe you will find out how."

"Maybe I will." Alaina looks up at me and smiles. I don't really care if Alaina hooks up with someone that I have in the past, or even date them, I used to read some old journals and girls got so mad about that stuff. During this time it just seems pointless to be mad at that. I think there is a line with dating, but even then there's exceptions, "Who's your best hookup?" She asks me. I try to think because my list isn't huge- just Evan, Casey, Lisa and Caleb. Lisa was my first, it was right before Ellie came. Lisa then left with her mom so anything between us was short lived.

"Probably Casey." Alaina raises her eyebrows.

"Really?"

"Yeah she really knew her stuff." Alaina snorts at me, "What about you?"

"Probably Adam." I nod at her. She and Adam used to date briefly when we were 17, but it didn't last long and they decided to just stay friends, "Oh by the way we're going to Jesse's. We're just gonna chill maybe have a few drinks." I nod at her and we just hang out until we have to go over.
