Drunken Actions

Today's the day I can finally take my bandages off and have the doctors final verdict. I already have an idea on what they're gonna say. Maria and Tommy are with me, but I also asked Adam and Alaina to be here. I was gonna ask Ellie, but decided not to.

"Okay Lily, I just need your arm so we can take this off." I hand him my left arm and he starts to unravel the bandages and take off my makeshift cast. When it's off I see that the bruising is down significantly and my arm is a little more normal looking, but there are scars all over my arms from the nails, "I know it doesn't look it or feel like it, but this is fantastic Lily. You're very lucky to even still have your arm."

"Put pressure on it." I tell him. The doctor sighs before he does- I don't feel it though. I try to move my hand, but I can't, "It's basically gone if I can't use it." I tell him and grab my arm away from him. He doesn't reply but turns to Maria and Tommy to talk about further steps. I look over at Adam and Alaina and they go over to sit next to me. Adam puts his arm around my shoulder and I lean my head on his shoulder, Alaina moves so she's leaning on me.

"We're sorry Lils." Adam tells me. I shrug and we stay in this position until the doctor tells us we can go.

When we get back to the house after the visit with the doctor I go straight the couch and lay across it. I pick up a book from the coffee table and start to read it. Tommy and Maria come sit on both sides of me.

"Lily honey," Maria starts and she rubs my back, "we're sorry we couldn't stop it."

"The feeling or movement is never coming back is it?" I say quietly.

"No sweetpea, the chances are very slim." Tommy tells me and I nod slowly. I fully lay down with my head on Maria's lap and my legs on Tommy's. Maria runs her fingers through my hair as I slowly cry.

It was great timing that tonight one of the younger kids around here are throwing a party at their place. They're more frequent than the community parties, but they're still not common. When I arrive at the house Alaina is outside waiting for me.

"Aw were you waiting for me?" I tease Alaina.

She rolls her eyes, "No I was waiting for Adam to come out for a cigarette break so I can steal one off of him."

"Well why didn't you just ask him for one?"

"This way I could have had someone to smoke it with." I roll my eyes at her and grab her arm.

"Come on dork the funs inside." I drag Alaina with me and we go over to the table to grab a drink. I decide to go for a glass of wine while Alaina grabs a beer.

"So Alaina point me in the direction you want to go and I'm your wingwoman for the night." Alaina smirks and looks around the area. She doesn't have to look far as Evan comes up to us.

"Hey Evan nice to see your tongue not down someones throat this evening." Alaina says with a smirk. She says this as I'm taking a sip of my wine and I choke a bit trying to hold back a laugh.

"Well I could say the same for you Alaina." Evan replies.

"Well I mean we could always change that. I'm on the prowl."

"Well mind if I search with you guys?" Evan asks and I motion for him to join. They continue to talk and I just watch them. I never got to the point of being in love with Evan, so I don't mind if anything happened between them. During this time it's rare to find someone, so if they're happy then I don't mind. I never really noticed the sexual tension between them, but it's clear that it's there. I wink at Alaina before I leave to let them talk. I spot Ellie on the other side of the room so I smile and go talk to her.

"Hey stranger." Ellie looks over at me and smiles.

"Hey," She looks over at Evan and Alaina, "Evan looks busy, you okay with that?"

"Yeah. We've been broken up for a while and I never got to the point of being in love with him. If they're happy then I don't care. Anyways, I don't know if they're gonna do anything right now." Ellie nods and we continue to drink together.

"I'll only mention this once, but we heard about how the  doctors appointment went. Are you okay?"

"No. The alcohol helps, at least then I don't feel anything everywhere."

"Lils-"

"I'm joking. I'm not okay, but I will be." Ellie nods and we continue to drink in silence. Wine always seems to hit me a little different, so I feel the buzz come quicker than usual. The more alcohol I consume the more enjoyable it is to watch everyone here. Alaina is with Evan, Adam is in the corner talking to one of his friends, Jesse and Dina are dancing in the corner and Ellie is also observing everyone around us. I see her glance at Cat who's talking to a girl.

"You okay with that?" I ask Ellie.

"Yeah," Ellie shrugs, "We didn't date for too long. I never got to the point of being in love with her."

"You dated for almost a year."

"You dated Evan for 2 and never fell in love with him."

"Yeah. Something always held me back."

Ellie stares at me, "Something always held me back too."

It stays quiet until I lower my voice, "Well, maybe you should stop running away from me." My voice trembles as I say this. Even with the alcohol this is scary. I look up at Ellie and her face holds so many emotions I can't pick just one.

"Yeah. I should."

I open my mouth to say something but I feel an arm go around my shoulder, "Well hello Lily." I look over and see a very intoxicated Adam.

"God you have to go home you're wrecked," I tell him. I'm about to take him home, but realize I am also decently intoxicated so I look over at Ellie, "Hey sorry but would you be able to help me get him home?" Ellie nods and we both throw one of his arms around our shoulders and drag him out of the party. It's an effort but we get Adam back to his place. I lay him on his bed with a sigh, "You drunk idiot." I mutter. When I go back downstairs I'm surprised to see Ellie is still here.

"Hey, you're still here?"

"Oh yeah. I just wanted to walk you home to make sure you get home okay." She scratches the back of her neck nervously and I smile at her.

"Thanks Els. Come on." I grab her hand and lead her out of Adams place. I drop her hand, but we still walk so close that our fingers keep brushing against the others. When we get to the door I turn to Ellie.

"Well thanks for walking me back, and for helping me take Adam home, I guess I'll see you tomorrow?"

Ellie nods, "Yeah." I give her a smile and am about to go in when I feel a tug on my right arm and I'm pulled back towards Ellie before I feel her lips on mine. At first I'm shocked, but once I realize what's going on I kiss back. Ellie's arm goes around my waist and I bring my arm around her neck. We push up against each other so there isn't any room between us. After a bit we pull away from each other both panting to get our breath back.

"I'm not running away this time." Ellie tells me and I smile at her. I raise my arm and brush a stray hair from her face.

"Good." And I lean in for another kiss.
