With You

Too Familiar

Bettys POV:

    I sat in the lunchroom with my head down in my hoodie. There was no way I was going to finish the day out without falling asleep. "Hey Betty" Veronica said as she walked by me in the lunchroom. She rolled the sleeves up on her serpents jacket and sat down. "What's been up with you lately? You missed a week of school and come back so tired". I looked at her and could practically feel the bags under my eyes. "I just can't sleep that's all" I told her. She gave me a look of sorrow and walked away. Gosh I hated that look too. "Baby, I thought you were going to sleep last night" Jughead said "I couldn't Jug, I'm scared and I don't want to" I told him. I felt like I was about to pass out.

    We went inside out next class. I was so tired I felt like I was about to pass out but I had to try not to. Not in this class at least. This was Math class and we had a new teacher. There are rumors that he is very strict in here. Jughead sat beside me and looked at me. His face full of worry. I groaned and through my head back down in my arms. After he taught for about 25 minutes I could not do it anymore. My eyes shut themselves and I slept. I couldn't have slept long. What felt like not even 5 minutes later I was awoken by a very loud slap on my desk. I through my head up quickly when I noticed a ruler right in front of my face. "Sleeping in my class Betty" The teacher growled at me as he lifted the ruler up. How did he know to call me Betty? "Sorry I just can't sleep sometimes" I told him. I studied his face for a second. He looked familiar, too familiar.

    Suddenly he slung his ruler down and hit me across the arm. It wasn't as hard as he could but hard enough to make it burn. "Ah!" I yelled in pain and pulled my arm away quickly. "Why did you do that?" I screamed in his face from my desk. I heard someone stand up and turned around to see Jughead. He moved across the floor so fast and got right in the teachers face. "What the fuck!" He yelled. He then yanked the ruler out of his hand and threw it on the ground. Jughead looked so angry as he glared at the teacher. I was still trying to figure out where I had seen this man before. "Betty, lets go" Jughead said and reached his hand out to me. I took it and allowed him to pull me up from my desk.

     I began to follow Jughead out of the classroom but was stopped by the teacher gripping my wrist. "Do you recognize me Betty?" He asked me and grinned. "Uh, no...who uh, are you?" I asked nervously as his grip on my wrist tightened. Jughead came and jerked me away from his grasp. "Don't fucking touch her" he said to him. He then wrapped his arm around me and walked us out of the classroom and towards the office.

Time pass

    "So he hit you, with the ruler?" Fp asked me. We sat on the couch eating dinner. I yawned and nodded my head yes. "He looked very familiar, and he called me Betty instead of Elizabeth like all the other teachers" I told him and yawned again. I placed my Burger back down on the tray and rested my head on Jugheads shoulder. Fp continued to talk but I wasn't listening. Soon sleep came over me and I drifted away.

Jugheads POV:
    "Boy you can't yell at teachers now" dad said to me and laughed a bit. "Well they shouldn't hit students" I said back. "Alright, well Get her up to bed" he said and pointed to Betty. I looked down to see her. Sleeping so peacefully. Her head rested on my shoulder and one arm was wrapped around my torso. I couldn't help but smile when I looked at her. I just loved her so much. I didn't even want to disturb her sleep. "The way you look at her Jughead, you're falling hard" dad said and pushed my shoulder a bit. I just rolled my eyes in response before lifting Betty up and carrying her up the stairs to my bed. I put her down and covered her up.

   "Jug" Betty called right as I exited my room. "Betty" I poked my head back in. "Stay here" she said and looked at me longingly. "I'm not going anywhere. I'll be right back" I told her. "Ok" she groaned and watched me leave. I went downstairs and placed our food in the fridge so we could eat it later and I made my way back up the stairs. She sat there with her eyes open waiting on me to get into the bed beside her.

    "I love you Betts" I said and pulled her close to me. "I love you to Juggie" she said before I started to hear quiet snores coming from her.
