Bettys POV:
The pain continued... at school the next day as I sat in my third period class. My chest randomly had a strong pain. I held my breathe while it hurt and turned not to draw attention to myself. It seemed to hurt worse every time it happened. I didn't want to tell anyone though. I was just a burden and I didn't want to be a bigger one.

Time pass
Next week

"Elizabeth pay attention please" the teacher said to me. I lifted my head up and watched mindlessly as she wrote math equations on the board. I tried to pay attention a little because my math grade could be better but I didn't understand so eventually I stopped trying. I watched as everyone else carefully took notes and nodded their heads as if they understood. Suddenly there it was again. The pain but way worse this time then ever. I gasped a bit when it started but not loud enough for anyone to hear except Jug who sat right beside me.

I held my breathe in hopes for it to stop hurting but it got worse causing me to cough. I coughed a couple times before Jughead turned to me. "Betty hey, hey what happened?" He asked me frantically. I tapped my chest quickly with my hand but I couldn't form any words. "Elizabeth Cooper! Face this way" the teacher demanded. I jumped up from my desk and rushed out of the classroom. I ran outside to a bench and sat down as tears starting falling from my face. I curled my body up as I sat in pain. My chest stinging every time I took a breathe.

Jugheads POV:
I could see the tears forming in Bettys eyes right before she ran out of the classroom. Something was wrong, she seemed to be in pain. I began to go after her but was stopped by the teacher. "Forsyth Jones sit down" she said. "But I need to make sure she's ok" I said back in frustration. She didn't seem to care. "She can take care of herself" she said. "No no I need to go to her!" I said louder. "You need to sit" she started but before she could finish I ran past her and out the door.

I listened as I heard quiet sobs coming from around the corner. I ran until I seen her. Curled up in a ball, one hand on her chest. She was taking very short breathes and quickly. "Betts" I started as I sat beside her. "J-jug I-I" she tried to talk but couldn't barely get enough air to do so. "Betty breathe" I demanded and cupped her face in my hands so she would look at me. "I-I c-can't" she struggles to say. I called dad quickly and told him he needed to get here quickly.

"Baby please try and breathe, what hurts?" I asked her frantically. She moved her hand to her chest and shut her eyes once it got there. "No Betty look!" I said loudly. "Look at me" I said. She opens her eyes and was out of breathe. "Breathe with me" I told her. I started taking long deep breathes and I could tell she was trying to but she started coughing again like crazy. I scooped her up and carried her to the front of the school. I hope that dad would be there by now and luckily he was. I rushed to the car and got into the back with Betty.

Once I sat her down I seen that she wasn't awake anymore. "Dad!" Drive now!" I said to him. "Jughead! What happened?" He asked me as he drove towards a hospital. "I'll explain later just hurry please" I said as tears started forming. I noticed she wasn't barely breathing. I couldn't lose her. She was my Betty. If she were to not wake up I don't know if I would get up tomorrow or ever. She is my life and I love her to much to lose her.

Time pass
At the hospital

We've been here for hours and haven't gotten any news from the doctors. I explained everything to dad and he was so worried about her. "Mr. Jones" we heard a doctor say. Dad stood up quickly and walked to the doctor. Me right at his heels. "She is awake now and we've run some tests" the doctor said. His expression dropped and he looked upset. "We uh, we found some ARDS" he said. "Is she going to be alright?" Dad asked frantically. "We're not sure right now, there could be some other possible problems but this this is what was causing her breathing difficulties." The doctor said.

"What do you mean other problems?" I asked madly. She's been here for hours and they haven't figured anything out! "Well we need to run more tests but she should rest first. The ARDS are usually curable within a few weeks if they aren't urgent"  he said. I was irritated at that. They hadn't even known what all was wrong with her. "Can I see her?" I asked them. "Yes you may, follow me"

I followed him down a hallway where he let me and dad into a room. Plain white and there she was laying in that bed with an emotionless face. "Baby" I said as I rushed over. I sat in a chair against the bed and her emotionless face changed into a sad and regretful face. "I'm so sorry, all I am is a problem I didn't want for you to have to deal with this" she said and let a few tears fall. "What do you mean honey?" Dad asked her and furrowed his eyebrows. "Well, I have had pain for a while now but I didn't say anything, I'm sorry" Betty said. I leaned down and kissed her forehead.

"Betty, its ok. Just please tell us if anything is bothering you, we love you and we always want to help you" dad said as he came over to her. "Ok" Betty smiled sadly.
