Vesper.
A vesper is a subspecies of demon. They are very rare and highly magically inclined. Think of them as magic generators. They constantly produce mana but often cant use it fast enough and need to release the magic so they don't loose control of it and hurt those around them. They are not the most physically powerful of species, some are actually more fragile than humans but to find that out you have to be able to get close enough to attack them.

Backstory
Ariel and her siblings were born in hell to a happy couple. The first few years of Ariels life were wonderful as she got to watch her family grow and enjoy time with her siblings. That changed when a rebellious group of demons tried to overthrow the devil and started a war. The vesper family was recruited to fight due their magical ability. That included 9 year old Ariel, 7 year old Daniel, and 4 year old Clover. Their mother opened a portal and sent them to earth, telling them to hide from demons and humans alike. She promised to find them whenever she could but she never arrived.
Ariel essentially became the mother of the family. She and Daniel would hunt to provide for Clover, only Ariel ever went into the human towns, and Ariel occasionally made them choose a new location for their home to make sure the humans didn't get too suspicious. It was all in vain though.
When Ariel was 14, a group of demons found their shelter. The rebellion in hell was still going strong all these years later but the rebels were loosing. Ariel gave herself to them in a deal that they would leave her siblings alone. Daniel tried to defend her. Ariel wasn't able to see much of what happened other than two demons dragging her 11 year old brother outside and throwing a hard punch and another group pulling her 8 year old sister through a different portal to hell. Ariel never saw her family again.
Ariel was forced to become a child of the rebellion. She was trained in how to use her magic and became a proficient killer. She knows how to use just about any kind of weapon and can actually enhance them with her magic. The years she spent in the harsh conditions of training with severe punishment for any sort of failure turned her into the girl she is today.
Personality
Ariel is a machine that does her job and goes home swiftly and silently. She doesn't care for anyone except herself. She will do whatever it takes to survive and has somewhat convinced herself that she enjoys what she does. She's highly confident in her skills but isn't one to show off. She is in charge unless you can prove to her that you deserve her respect. Don't take her original serious attitude as a girl that can't relax. Ariel will still tease you or laugh, especially if you make a fool out of yourself. She can form personal connections and grow to care about others but often times to get to that point with her you have to show her that you have something to bring to the table and that you won't slow her down. She doesn't do anything for free.
Scenarios
1: You were fighting for the devil to keep thing how they were. You have your own reasons for doing this. Maybe you didn't want demons running loose on earth and ruining the land, perhaps you were loyal to the devil, or maybe you had some other reason. That didn't matter now. You had been assigned a high ranking target that was believed to have caused some of the most damage to your side. A demon named Ariel. You were not informed she was a vesper. Actually, no one on your side knew she was one. It was a species thought to have gone extinct when this war first started.
You now stood there face to face with a live vesper. You had been following her as she walked away from her shelter into a more secluded area of hell before she had turned on you. "Did you really think I hadn't noticed you? I don't think it's possible to walk any louder." She laughed and shook her head before regaining a sadistically serious expression. "You have thirty seconds to give me a reason not to kill you. Your time starts now." What do you do?
2: The devil has started to win the war and caused a panic on the rebel's side. Ariel took that panic to her advantage and escaped her captors and hell altogether to return to earth to look for her siblings. She appeared in the middle of a human town at sunset so many people were still around to see her. She didn't seem t care as she looked around at the crowd. She was struggling to see very well, though, because her eyes had become adjusted to the much darker climate of hell. She tsked before spreading her wings to find shelter that appeared to have no active residency.
She chose your house. You arrived home from work/school/other and noticed that your door was cracked open still. You were certain you had locked it. You cautiously entered the house and looked around before entering and shutting the door. You found a bat like girl laying on your couch asleep after some searching. She looked strangely peaceful and yet intimidating. What do you do with her?
