the rain never lies

a nightingale visited her today
it sat on her shoulder and sung her lullabies
the ones her mother used to sing to her when she was a toddler

soft, soft melodies
rain droplets hitting the windows
and a weeping girl who lost her mother
was all the sound in the universe

rain was her mother's favourite weather
it must have been a sign from the universe
telling her it's gonna be okay
because she's always here, lulling her to sleep

the weeping girl smiled gently
the rain never lied
the nightingale was a gift from above
she would treasure it like her mother would
she thanked the universe for taking away the pain
and left with a lighter heart knowing her mother was at peace
