"Babe, I'm heading out to meet some friends from school, I promised I'd hang with them tonight cuz I haven't seen them in a long time. I'll be home by ten, three hours isn't that long without me. Please don't burn the house down if you cook something." I pecked Dom's cheek, cuddling his shoulders from behind. He snorted, making a snarky remark to my insult.

"Alright, love. Call me if ya need me to come get ya. And tell them I said hi." I nodded, double checking I had my phone before leaving. The local park is a five minute walk from our place. It's quiet, not many people go there at this time. The familiar path came into view, making me smile. I heard music playing from a speaker ahead, getting louder as I approached it. Three unmissable people sat in a small circle, smoking from a tightly rolled joint. My best friend, K, raised his head to look at me, jumping to his feet.

"Y/n! Long time, no see!" He smiled, pulling me into a hug. I rubbed his back before we let go, waving to the two girls seated with each other.

"How have you been? How's Dominic? He's grown up a lot since high school." I giggled, sitting down with them. T held the blunt to me, I kindly refused.

"Oh, no thanks. I don't really smoke weed." She shrugged, toking it a couple more times before passing it to C. I looked at K, catching him staring at me.

"Staring problem, K? That hasn't changed then." He chuckled, rolling his eyes.

"You're still short, just like in year eleven. Growth spurt hasn't hit yet?" I flicked his ear. K was already set on rolling another joint, sealing it and slotting it behind his ear.

"So, what have you been up to since school? Got that job you wanted yet?" I shook my head, checking my phone.

"No, I've been on tour with Dom a lot more than I expected to be. We've been super busy all over the world." K nodded, taking the joint from C. She rolled her eyes, opening her phone to text someone.

"Mum said be home by ten-thirty. What time do you have to be in, y/n?"

"Ten. I'll probably leave a few minutes before." She nodded, starting a conversation with T. K was staring at me again, eyeing me up and down. I felt slightly uncomfortable but shrugged it off. He threw the butt of his blunt away and immediately sparked the other one up. He smoked some of it before handing it to me. I gave in, taking it.

"It's good shit, my mate grows it. Gets you fucked up real quick. You'll probably freak out if you smoke too much." I hummed, passing it to T when I finished. My head was already clouding up, vision becoming a little blurry.

"So this guy you've been talking about, K. When's the fight?" K chewed his lip, shaking his head.

"Not sure, he keeps backing out, saying 'I'll meet you near the park'. Never turns up, pussy." We all laughed, gradually getting higher. I took a deep. death, holding my head. Everything was so blurry, my head felt heavy on my neck.

"How is it already nine forty-five? Want us to walk you home, y/n?" I shook my head, trying to stand up. Not a good idea, I stumbled backwards, being caught by K before nearly hitting the floor. He got up from his knees and secured his arm around my lower waist.

"Thanks. Umm, I'll ring Dom to come get me. We love a few minutes away anyway." The girls stood up, beginning to walk away. Me and K took small steps, aware that I could faint at any passing second. I stopped, making K stop, too.
