A/N: This is my first fan fiction. It has been a while since I read Percy Jackson, so I am going to write this after the series. I may include characters from Heroes of Olympus as well. I am sorry if I make a mistake on a detail, I will try not to. If I make a mistake, please write it in the comments. I will probably mess with ages a bit and timing to make the book work better. I don't really have to much of a plan for the plot, so I will be open to suggestions throughout the book. I am also a big fan of music and dancing, so I may include that. Thank you for reading, and I hope you like it!!

Disclaimer: I don't own the Percy Jackson franchise (obviously). I only own any characters I create and most of the plot line.

I held mommy's hand as we walked down the street. I looked around at all the people, and I happened to see something blue between the buildings. "Mommy?" I pulled on her hand. "Yes Aria" she responded.

"What's that?" I pointed between the buildings at the blue thing. Mommy stopped and stared at the blue thing. "Come on" She started dragging me roughly. I was scared. Why did mommy look so mad? Why was she going so fast? I can't keep up.

We reached the blue thing, and mommy turned sharply to me. "That Aria is the ocean" she pointed at the blue thing, which I could now see was made of water. It looked like a giant bath. I saw people moving in the water. I see two girls run in screaming "let's go swimming".

"Mommy it looks fun, I want to go in!" Mommy turned sharply to me.

"No! You never go in. The water is bad, all it causes is pain. You are never to go in the water. No pools, no lake, no ocean! Do you understand!" I looked at mommy with scared eyes. She was slowly digging her nails into my arm. I should have dropped it, should have agreed, but I was a stubborn child and I didn't. "But mommy, they are all having fun! I want to go to the water." Mommy glared at me. She grabbed me by my hair and dragged me to the car. She opened the door and threw me in. We drove home in silence.

When we arrived, Mommy dragged me up the stairs to our apartment. She dragged me into the bathroom and threw me in bathtub. She put the water as cold as it would go and forced my head under the faucet. I screamed, there was water everywhere, I couldn't breathe. The water slowly filled up, and I held my breath as my head was forced under again and again. My head was pulled up, and I turned to mommy with tears in my frightened eyes. "If you like the water so much, you can stay in it! Your father was taken away by the water, and no daughter of mine will be like him". She went to the sink and filled a bucket with hot water. She proceeded to dump it on my head. I screamed. She looked at me with disgust before closing the door to the tub and leaving. I screamed and cried. I was freezing in the water, and I was short enough that my head kept slipping under. I was scared, so scared. I now knew the water ruined both of my parents. It hurts you, and I will never go in it again.

I wake up in a cold sweat. The nightmare as familiar as if it were yesterday. I get up and sneak into the kitchen, twirling a lock of blue hair around my finger. I was three when that happened. My mum came to get me from the bathroom the next day. She came in to find my hair blue and a weird symbol on the wall. She pulled me out and took me into my room. She hugged me and told me that the water had cursed me, and that is why my hair was different. She held me close and told me she would protect me from the water, but that my actions yesterday couldn't go unpunished, which is why she had to leave me in the bathroom. I pour myself a glass of milk from the fridge. My mother kept her promise, she got me out of swimming lessons, we never went to the sea, changed the bathtub into a stand-up shower, and she always reminded me of how awful and cruel the water could be. I go upstairs and lay in my bed. She only forces me in the water when I have been really bad. She keeps my head under while I hold my breath. I know she does it to teach me a lesson. The water is evil, the water is cruel, the water won't hesitate to take everything away from you. I drift off to sleep, closing my sea green eyes. My name is Aria Blackthorn, I am 14 years old, and I am deathly afraid of the water.

A/N: I will try to update this book as often as I can. Also, I know children of Poseidon can breathe underwater and can't be hurt by it, but since she doesn't know that yet, she hasn't tried to breath, and the water can hurt her. Feel free to give me feedback, this is my first fic and I hope to improve. Btw, if anyone can think of a cover for this book they want me to use,  send it to me and I will gladly use it.

Stay traught and feel the aster!!
