Falling Down

Chapter 5

                                3 months and an unborn baby later, Jaylen and I are living together, but every day for the past little while, he looks as if he wants so Sparta kick me. His fists are always clenched, and he hasn't smiled for days. After about a week of this I try to find out what's wrong.

                "Jaylen, why do you look so mad?"  I ask.

                "Do you want to know why?" He raises his voice and his face looks like it's been blazed by the hot sun.

                "Y-Yeah I do." My voice goes all high and squeaky; almost mouse like.

                "You're so full of crap, Skye. It's unbelievable." He holds a up on hand and then the other. In his left hand there are a stack of papers; bills perhaps. In the right was my stash of money. Jaylen had told me multiple times to quit my 'job' when we started dating, but I never stopped until I was 3 months pregnant - about 2 months ago.

                "That money's mine! Give it back!" I scream.

                "You stupid piece of trash," he says between gritted teeth. "You told me you were in trouble with some guys. Where are they now? You told me you were financially unstable. I took you and felt sorry for you because you were going to die out on the streets. Little did I know that you have over 15,000 dollars in cash, and your making ME pay 100 bucks a month for your phone bill, all of the rent - "

                "Why do you care so much about the money? You offered to pay all of this anyways, so don't go pointing fingers!" I cut him off.

                "Whatever Skye, you win." He threw the money at me. "You cheap hoe bag, get out of my house and leave me out of the suicide note." He grabbed my bags, which were already packed, threw them at me, and pushed me out of the house. I thought I had settled down for once in my life, but I had to ruin it. I have finally realized that being sneaky and manipulative is a weakness and isn't going to get me anywhere.
