Chapter 6
After I calmed down a little bit, I texted Liam and told him what happened. His only response: Good. Screw you.
I broke down again and I sat down on the curb of Jaylen's apartment building with my face buried into my arms. A wave of thoughts hit me while I was sitting there, and the moment was really intense... or so I thought until I hear a car horn blaring at me. I jump out of my skin and my head jerks up. In the white Ford pulled over beside me sits Brent and a sweet-faced, beautiful young woman. I wipe the tears off of my face and run my fingers through my messy, unwashed brown hair.
"Skye! Are you okay?" Brent asks, sounding concerned.
"Do I look okay? I just got kicked out; everyone I loved and trusted left me. I have to raise a baby on the street alone. Just -" I burst out crying again. God I hate this so much.
"Shh. Hop in, Julie and I have plenty of room in our house. We have a suite in our basement that you can live in and legally rent out whenever you're ready to get a job." Brent said. He's obviously changed from the last time I saw him. Just a couple of months ago he was wasting his life drinking and sleeping with random girls. Apparently he got a life.
"A-Are you sure? I seem to be a big disturbance to people..." I sob.
"We insist, you will be living downstairs so there's no way you can bother us." Julie buds in.
I get in the car. When Julie and Brent are in presence, there's a feeling of love, structure, and family in the air. I have a good feeling about this.
