1 year later...

A lot has happened this past year, I found out that my whole life before I shifted was a lie. I was brought up believing that fairy tales were nothing but stories, legends made up to entertain little children or use them to scare people huddled around a campfire. But now I realize Legends are sometimes Lessons that ring with truth. At first I had a pretty had time coming to terms with what my new reality is; I wanted to believe it was all a dream in which I could wake up from. Sadly that isn't how it went.

After my uncle explained to me all the do's and don'ts of the werewolf world we moved to a new house in the middle of the mountains, Colorado, America! He said that's were most Pack's live and once I was ready, we would join his old pack. He explained to me about ranking in pack's, how the Alpha was in charge with the Luna (the alpha's mate) and that in every pack that there is also a Beta (second in command) and a third-in-command. Apparently my uncle was a beta but gave it up to move away and look after me once my parents had died. I can't thank him enough for everything he has done for me in the 12 years he has been there for me. Of cause it would have helped if he had told me about myself when I was younger but whenever I question him he simply says 'it was never the right time.' I won't blame him though. He never had a child of his own so I'm guessing he never knew how to approach the matter.

When my uncle told me about mates I asked him how come he didn't have one. After all he had told me that at the age of 18 or older you could find your mate, they were meant to be your other half and you could never love someone as much as you loved your mate. He said having a mate was utter perfection and together you were like... the moon and the stars, yin and yang, peas and carrots! That having a mate made life make sense. That's also when he told me that he had in deed found his mate, however she was killed in a rouge attack. That's another reason he decided to come and look after me. My uncle also explained what rouges were, rouges are lone wolves without a pack. Some a vicious and other peaceful.

Running through the forest I push myself to the absolute limit. I sprint past many trees breaking the rotting branches that block my path. Perk of being half wolf, you're incredibly strong and fast. I keep running knowing that I won't be able to be with my wolf Aster for much longer, Uncle said as soon as we join a pack I will have to keep my white wolf on a low profile. Apparently a wolf like me is very rare because we are more skilled. I don't think of that right now as I enter my favourite hiding place. It's a small clearing in the forest, home to the Banyan Cove tree. Stories say that the tree's roots travel miles down into the earth connecting the world together.

As I near the tree I shift into my human self and quickly put on my loose jumper and jeans that were tied around my leg. Something not so good about being a wolf is that when you turn, your clothes shred. As I near the tree I can't help but feel like a pair of eyes are fixed on my. I quickly turn on my heel to see if anyone was watching me...

Nothing there.

I give up on the thought of anyone being there as we are literally surrounded by mountains. Turning and heading to the tree, I climb to the top branch and lean against the hard bark that infests the trees skin. I look up through the leaves to see bright sun rays fighting their way through the thick layers of leaves to fill every corner of darkness. There is something odd about this area that makes it calming, I guess it's just how quiet it is.

I hear a twig snap from behind me, causing a panic I turn quickly to only slip of the branch. I fall to the floor and pain surges through my left side. I still don't know what made that noise. Climbing to my feet I lean against the tree a slowly turn my head to try get a look and see if anything's there. Nothing. Again. Making my way around the tree a large bear like creature nudges into my side, screaming I jump backwards and get into a fighting stance. I look up to see a large brown wolf, it's my uncle. I curse under my breath.

"What the hell Uncle Ben! Why did you go ahead and scare me like that?"

I can see the amused expression on his wolf's face to see him retreat to behind the banyan tree, remerging fully clothed. Thank God.

"Dinner's ready..." I hear in his smug voice a small chuckle

"Why the hell couldn't you just mind-link me, we have one for a reason!" He can tell I'm pissed off as he takes a step back, his face still covered in his amused expression.

"Well sorry missy but I have been stuck in the house all day and I got bored, now come on... I've made your favourite dinner."

"Which is???"

"Steak and chips with pepper corn sauce, I know you too well Piper. You can't pretend you hate it when you love it." My face lights up at the mention of my favourite dinner. Dammit! He knows me too well.

He lets out another small chuckle "Come on them slow coach or it'll get cold!"

Not wanting my favourite meal to go to waste I follow him through the forest when I hear him give a tiered sigh.

"What's up? Uncle Ben, everything okay?"

"Yeah, it's just I'm gonna miss this place. That's all"

"What do you mean miss this place?"

"Well, Piper... Remember when I said that when you ready and in control of your wolf that we would go to my old pack?"

"Yeah??? You think I'm ready don't you?"

"Yes, I do. You have shown that you can control your emotions enough to not shift at any random moment and with you being a white wolf we can't risk other wolves finding out about you. The only man I trust to know your secret is my old Alpha, that's why I think it would be best to go and see if he will take us into his pack. What do you think?"

"Well, I'm glad that you think I'm ready but do you really think I can control my wolf?" I ask in a slightly panicked tone. I mean what if I can't control myself or my wolf, I know we are connected but Aster still has some free will. If she gets too angry with something, she can make me shift at any time.

"I'm positive, we'll go to white moon pack tomorrow. Now come on, before the steak gets cold" he smiles at me

I look at him and see that he trusts me and think I'm ready. For now I'm just going to put my faith in him and hope he is right but all I can think of is people finding out about my wolf, and coming after me.
