Chapter 7 - On the road again

I wake up, the sun shining its homely rays through the window slightly ajar across from my bed. Oh God, I'm so embarrassed about yesterday. I was doing perfectly fine till Damion wrecked my training session. For once I was looking forward to it and not because of the gorgeous man helping me but because this could help me become more independent and perhaps tame my powers. Everything's just so confusing so I think the only thing that's best for me is too avoid everyone at ALL COSTS.

Now that I start to think of it I wonder if I should ask to go back to my old house and collect the rest of my stuff, seeing as it looks like I'll be here for a while

I sluggishly crawl out of bed stretching out across the floor, you know. The usual thing you do of a morning. Wandering down to the Alpha Duke's office I sceptically knock on the door with the intention of finding my uncle. After all were else would he be?

"Come in."

As I entered the room I see my Uncle and Alpha Duke in a heated discussion, something must be up. I awkwardly make my way toward my uncle when I hear someone moving behind me. I turn my head slightly to see Damion, looking at me with his sad eyes. He gets up and heads for the door turning away, that's when I feel something inside of me stir. I felt my heart ache because I couldn't bear to see him sad. I told myself to avoid him at all costs but I can't help but feel his sorrow is my fault and it's killing me. If I hadn't have gotten annoyed? If I would have listened to him? If I wouldn't have left him in the forest? What would have happened?

"Damion I'm ..."

My voice breaks a little as I try to apologise with the whole hearted intension of cheering up but all he does is walk away. As I start to think he is repulsed by me he stops at the door frame and looks to me.

"It's Okay."

That's all he says as I try to reply but before I can he has already disappeared out of the office, gently closing the door behind him. I breathe out, letting all of my worries empty out of my chest. I need to take my mind of these. It was not a week ago when I was sitting under the banyan cove tree dreaming of what my empty future holds. I look back to my Uncle to see his face masked with concern.

"Uncle I..." as I am about to explain I hear the sad sigh of alpha Duke as I turn back to my uncle to be interrupted by him.

"Don't worry Piper, this will take time for you to accept."

"ACCEPT! Accept the fact that Damion is meant to be my mate and I have absolutely no feeling towards him!" That wasn't all necessarily true though.

"Piper, please calm down. You may be my son's mate but I know that you are not of age and that it will take you time to accept him..." Alpha Duke interrupts.

"So you expect me to accept him too?" My rage is slowly building up inside me as I feel a fire grow within my chest.

"Well of course, with you being the future alpha's mate you are to one day be a Luna of this pack..."

"Wait what!" What the hell does he mean, I am no Luna let alone Damion's mate! "I am no Luna when I am barely a Wolf!"

"Piper, what do you mean?" My uncle interrupts questioningly.

"Well we all know that I do not fit in here. I have no friends here, the only person I truly trust is my uncle!" I aim my fierce words towards Alpha Duke with no intention of hurting him, but his face is very clearly disgusted.

"I am your Alpha and you will respect me! Don't you dare take such a tone with me?" His voice is calm yet strong, so sharp it cuts through the atmosphere like a knife.

"I am sorry Alpha, I did not mean any offense towards you." I calm myself and bow my head slightly, Ashamed that I could take such a tone with an authority figure, especially a great friend of my Uncle. One he trusts with all his heart.

"It's ok Piper." His disappointed face forces a thin smile upon his face.

"Uncle, I was hoping if I could go home to collect some of my stuff, it seems that I have left some thing." I ask with pleading eyes. At that moment Damion enters and send me a sincere smile.

I smile back, not wanting to make enemies.

"I'm sure that will be fine, I'll take you their later." My uncle's words hurt me slightly that he doesn't trust me.

"But uncle, can I not go now. I will be fine and I know the path well."

"Hang on, where are you going... I will be happy to escort you?" Damion joins are discussion as I give him a pointed look.

"I'm sorry Damion but this is not any of your business." I turn back to my Uncle who is smirking slightly at Damion's words. "Fine you can go with Damion as your escort. If that's ok with you Alpha."

"Yes, I think that will be fine. Give them some proper alone time to get to know each other."

"WHAT???" Why the hell would he do that, especially after our previous convocation? I turn back to Damion who is smiling eager and politely. My uncle chuckling yet again under his smug face and then Alpha Duke sending me a 'Go along with this please' kind of look.

"Fine." I seethe out of my teeth, once again getting annoyed.

"I'll meet you outside?" Damion askes, his beautiful eyes boring into my own. What is this, some sort of cheesy Rom com were at the end of the little trip I'll magically fall in love...

Hell no!

I quickly make my way down the path to find Damion trying to keep up the pace.

"Need a break back their?"

"What, you getting tiered?"

"Oh ha ha... very funny!" My voice lined with sarcasm from his all too quick response.

We trudge our way through the path, awkwardness clinging to the air. Suddenly it is interrupted to the sweet sound of Damion's voice. Okay I seriously have to stop complimenting him. I know nothing about him. HE COULD BE AN AXE MURDERER! Although I highly doubt that.

"So, Erm... What's your favourite colour?"

"What?"

"You know, it's a shade that has many variations in which my favourite shade is blue..."

"Yes, I am not stupid I know what a colour is." I giggle slightly at his explanation. "I meant why do you need to know such a thing?"

"Well, some people would see it as a conversation starter but I see it as trying to get to know a beautiful person."

A blush creeps up to my cheeks, flaring them up horribly.

"Thanks, I guess..." That's all I manage to speak before he laughs. Laughing. Does he seriously think that will help him in a situation like this? He must be mad! Mustn't he.

"I'm not mad by the way, just curious." He states in a kind tone. It's like he can suddenly read my mind and I don't know what to do. I have been trying these past few day to try and climb away from Damion to only now think that I have fallen. No! This is not happening! I don't like Damion. I don't! Do I?

NO.

I turn back to the road more determined than ever to make it to my old home.
