Chapter 3 - Run

"Mine"

I hear those words chorus threw my head as they escape his lips and all I can think of is what the hell does he mean by 'Mine'. His large figure slowly advances towards me and all I could do is take a step back, what does he think he is doing. His eyes are a pure shade of black which only mean's he could shift at any moment.

I quickly peer over his advancing shoulder to see my uncle and Alpha Duke, smiling away. Why are they smiling...? There is a strange man walking towards me looking like he owns me which is not the case at all. I give my uncle a face of terror not knowing what is going on but he is completely ignores me.

Getting very concerned as the stranger has almost pinned me up against the wall, I use a great amount of my strength as I quickly shove him to the side and make a quick sprint for the door. As soon as I near the staircase I hear a low growl behind me, turning my head slightly to see the same man running after me.

Not wasting anytime I continue to run through the house till I make it to the door. Shaking the handle violently I turn my head slightly to see him only get closer and closer to me, when he is about a meter away I pry open the door and run like there is no tomorrow. I hear the shouts of my uncle and Alpha Duke but the stranger is probably too busy trying to catch me to shout.

We near the tree line when I hear the tearing of clothes, Oh God he's shifted. I throw a quick glance his way to see a large wolf infested with glossy black fur, I can't help but admire this wolf until I realise he is a lot faster now.

I think to Aster, it's now or never so I take a chance and shift into my beautiful white wolf. I'm a lot faster now too, faster than a normal wolf I have been told by my uncle many times. I take pride in it, until I realise he now knows who I am... Oh God what have I done, there is no going back now as I push myself to my limits. Working harder to escape the sight of the savage wolf tailing me. I can feel him coming up behind me so I use my strength to take a sharp right, hoping to lose him.

Running through the forest I head to the one place I feel safest, The Banyan Cove. As I rip my way through the branches blocking my path I make it to the all too familiar clearing. I head my way over to the tree, turning to see the wolf slowly emerging from the forest making its way into the clearing. I get into my fighting stance closing y eyes shut not wanting to see the wolf advance any further. I just wish the trees roots would somehow ring around me to protect me from the treat only a few meters away from me.

I suddenly feel a wave of power radiating of me, like in this moment no one can touch me. Like I am invincible or something...

Nothing happens, no giant wolf has come to bite me, or attack me yet. What is happening?

I slowly open my eyes, bright rays of sun attacking me as I try to adjust to the light. As my vision slowly returns from the harsh attack of light I am stunned to see a ring circling around me repeatedly. It's blue haze making it hard to see through it, it's bright with light coming of it in waves of energy and I can see the wolf on the other side is staring at me. Eyes wide but not in fear or disgust, he doesn't even look like it wants to kill me anymore.

Lost in his eyes I don't even notice when the boundary disappears, I didn't even know what it was. There was something about him that just made me relax and feel safe.

The gaze between us is soon broken as I hear the snapping of a twig, I violently turn my head not knowing what was there. The only people who know about the Banyan Cove are me, my uncle and now this stranger.

I am pulled back to reality when I find a dirty blonde, savage looking wolf, the sent around him reaches my nose as I try not to inhale the foul smell. Its smells like rotting wood and stale food. As soon as he knows we can see him, he vanishes back into the woods. That's when I see the wolf hat followed me chase after him.

It's a while before I hear anything, I wonder why he ran after him. At that moment my uncle and Alpha Duke appear from the woods, my uncle seeing my white wolf looks at me in panic while Alpha Duke looks purely amazed. I forgot Aster was still in control as she bows her head. I take some control and pull it back when I see Alpha Duke Chuckling. He walks up to me slowly with some caution. I wonder why he is so cautions. he is an Alpha after all.

"Wow, your wolf is quite a beauty. Benny, how come you didn't mention you niece was a special?"

"A special???" My uncle read my thoughts at his question.

"Come on Benny, stop being so stupid. Do you really now know the power of a white wolf?"

"Of course I do but in case you've got it wrong tell me what you think...?" I me and Aster giggle in our head at our uncle's stupidity.

"Well, I think that a white wolf is gifted with a power, each line of a white wolf's lineage has a different power to another line of white wolves. I also think that white wolves are extremely powerful, even more so than an Alpha... Am I right Benny?"

"Yeah, I think so. Not 100% because I didn't have a clue in the first place." He smirks.

"Well moving on, Piper... If you don't mind could you show me your gift?"

I mind link my uncle to tell him that I didn't know what he meant as I was still in shell shock from the previous and traumatic events for me. Seeing that my Uncle received the message he repeated it to Alpha Duke.

"Hmmm, I see. Well my son informs me that he saw you shield yourself. Do you think you could do that again for me please?"

SHIELD...SON... oh God this is bad, that wolf was his son!!! I'm panicking completely over the fact that his son looked like he wanted to kill me but I put it to the back of my mind and tried to 'shield' myself again. That must've been what that blue barrier was. I close my eyes and tried to picture the blue haze around me, it must work like shifting does.

I open my eyes to the gasp of my uncle and Alpha Duke, in seeing the blue 'shield' around me I jump back a bit momentarily panicking before calming down.

"Amazing!"

Alpha Duke's words are interrupted as we hear a loud cry of pain soon followed by a victorious Howl, What the hell was that. Moments later, the same tall yet handsome stranger emerges from the woods, Alpha Duke's son.

So I am very over excited that my book has altogether gotten 123 reads! This is a big deal for me because this is my first book and I only expected close friends to read it...
