Chapter 15
I was speechless, but in a good way. I was happy that Bubba had a girlfriend. It was about time he did. But I didn't want that to change anything between us. I didn't want that to change our friendship. Monica giggled to my side. "I wonder who it is?" She whispered to me. I nodded. "Yeah, that's a good point." My curiosity got the best of me. "Hey! Bubba! Wait up!" I started sprinting in his direction. "Bubba!" I yelled. He glanced back at me and started running faster. Then I sprinted faster. I had to know.
Finally I caught up to him. "Who...is...she?" I panted. Bubba chuckled nervously. "I think you know her..." He trailed off. I laughed. "I don't know a lot of people at this school, so I wouldn't be so sure." My lungs burned from running so fast. He slowed down and so did I. We were almost at a walk now. "Oh, I think you know this girl." He said. I stared at him, still waiting for an answer. "Oh my god, is it really that bad? Why wont you just tell me!" I whined. He laughed and rolled his eyes. "It's not bad at all. It's just..." He lost his words. Then he must have found them again. "It's...Angie." He shrugged and sped up again. This time I kept up.
This time, I really didn't know what to say. The more I thought about it, the more I thought about how perfect they were for each other. I couldn't help but feel a bit jealous. "Oh." Is all I replied. I had to think about this one. "And why was that so hard to say?" I asked, even though I already knew the answer. He shrugged. "I just...I don't know. I guess that's just me being dumb." He looked at the ground. I stared at him, a bit concerned. "What's the matter? It doesn't look like your happy to be going out with Angie." He chuckled slightly then slowed his pace. "It's not that. I mean, I like Angie. She's nice, cute, funny, sorta smart." We both laughed. "But, I don't know if I feel that way towards her. You know what I mean?" I nodded. I know that feeling well. "Yeah. I know. Sometimes you just gotta listen to your heart sometimes and ignore your brain. If you feel like this, then why are you going out with her?"
His smile immediately vanished. "Well its...a long story." He mumbled. I could tell this was going to be a complicated, difficult, probably a little embarrassing story to tell. "Hey. You can tell me anything. You know that." I comforted, but this time I don't think being his friend will do me any good. "I know. I know. But...It's just too embarrassing." We finished our last lap and lined up with the rest of our class. "Sometimes it's best to tell your friends stuff." I told him. That would be my last attempt. He shook his head. "Not this."
The rest of gym was quieter than usual. Me and Monica didn't talk that much, I could tell something was on her mind so I gave her space. I also had something on my mind so I wanted my space too. As much as I was happy for Bubba, I felt a little angry. Why would someone or something force him into asking Angie out? How would that happen? I hate to see Bubba hurt. It hurt me too. I just felt so...helpless. It was the worst feeling.
Time flew and soon it was the end of school. I walked to my car and, to my surprise, AJ was leaning against my car looking hot. I smiled and ran up to him. "Hey beautiful." He said as I kissed him on the lips. "Hey." I replied, then kissed him again. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him. "I missed you." I laughed. "No offense, but I'm not gonna do that lovey-dovey 'I missed you too' thing. So I'm just gonna say aw, you're sweet." He chuckled.
"So, what are you doing tonight? I was hoping I could hang at your place for a while. Or until your mom kicks me out." I looked up at his bright, gorgeous eyes. "Why?" I was a little confused. He's never wanted to come to my house before. He shrugged. "I just wanted to spend some time with my girlfriend." I slightly laughed, then rested my head on his chest. "Okay. I'm sure that's fine." I inhaled deeply. My nostrils filled with a strong scent of a deep vanilla. I sighed. "Cool. Can I drive you home then?" He asked. I shrugged. "Why not? But what about your car?" He chuckled.
"I'm not meaning drive you home in your car. I mean drive you home on the bike." My eyes got wide. "The bike? Do you mean...your motorcycle?" I felt him nod. "Yeah, is that a problem?" I shook my head, a little bewildered. "No, it's fine. I was just...never mind." I didn't want to keep babbling on. He chuckled excitedly. "Alright! Let's go!" I started walking with him, then stopped in mid-step. "Wait, what about my car?" I asked, looking back. "Don't worry about it. I'll have Jordan drive it home for you."
He said, then kissed my lips. This time his lips lingered on mine for a few seconds. Then he kissed me again. I felt his mouth form into a slight smile. I started to smile. I loved it when AJ kissed me. He just made me feel so good. Our mouths moved together for a few moments. Then AJ, with his wrapped arms, pulled me closer to him. I wrapped my arms around his neck, trying to pull myself towards him. My fingers played with his hair. His lips traced my jaw line then went down my neck. He nibbled my neck a few times then made his way back up to my lips. He smiled and pulled away. "Okay, lets get to your house." I think he did that on purpose. I was stunned, breathless. He grabbed my hand and towed my to his motorcycle. We climbed on. AJ revved the engine a few times, then we sped off to my house.
