Laila twisted and turned in her bed. Her body numb and heavy, her head dizzy. It took her a bit of time but she finally managed to crack her eyes open. Her gaze was met with a blinding light, so harsh on her eyes that it made them sting and involuntarily close again.
Laila groaned and forced them open once more. All she saw was white, blurry imagery from last night. She met Dimitri, learned the dark truth about Kazan's PA, and somehow got convinced into joining a local mafia.
Shit. Laila promised to join a gang...how the fuck did this happened.
"Gospozha?"
She flinched at the sudden sound; it was ringing in her ears as if someone just screamed. She turned her head slowly and found her house cleaner in front of her, dressed in the usual white shirt and black pants.
"You came home late, so I had to inform Mr. Raza about it. Please talk to him later."
"He's here?"
"Not yet. He's still in Turkey." Of course. He said he would be gone for a month or so. She was escorted home last night by Brutus because he missed his dorm entry hours. Laila felt bad so she let him crash in her guest room. Blyad, she forgot the boy was at her place.
Laila quickly got ready, throwing on a pair of jeans and a sweater shirt. She topped it with her Sacai coat. She dug through her closet for a headscarf before sprinting down the stairs. Brutus was seated in the main hall, having a cup of coffee which her butler very generously offered. "Gospozha doesn't bring men home often." He said before serving the piping hot mocha in a mug. Brutus noticed the girl walk down in fresh new pair of clothes while he sat in his last night's sweatpants and a random shirt that was just his size. Laila had lent him those before falling into sleep paralysis.
"So the queen awakes." He arched his eyebrow before taking another sip from the mug.
"So she does. Did you sleep well?" Laila asked hurriedly while putting on her converse.
"I did. Your Butler Sir Maksim was kind enough to make me this fine coffee." Brutus spoke in a British accent. The statement earned an earnest laugh from Laila before the brunette asked him to walk out for school. Brutus argued about how he looked like a fashion failure to which Laila just nodded. She let him use her Godfather's closet searching for something that didn't scream middle-aged man. She managed to find a set of pantsuits of his size and ratios. It was a bit formal but Laila was sure she had never found the man so handsome before. Awkward hot computer guy looks good in formals; she made a note to herself.
They walked out of the mansion waiting for her Genesis GV80 to be brought out. As the gatekeeper opened the gates, Laila drove off to Kazan with a very uncomfortable Brutus on her side. The ride was getting quiet, a little too much considering what had happened last night.
"So I thought about last night... and I think Mr. Dimitri was right. You don't have to do this if you don't want to Laila." Brutus murmured "I know what I said, but I can make sure you and your Godfather stay out of this mess. I can help you with that. "Laila heaved before nodding silently.
If only she would've said no back then.
She killed the engine as she stepped out of her car, closing the door behind her. Brutus stepped out of the vehicle waiting to join the girl. He followed her to her class before turning around and leaving.
"Brutus," Laila shouted, alerting the boy. "I am doing this because I want to. This is my decision to protect my person. I haven't gotten a chance to pay him back. Don't take this away from me." She scrunched her nose before walking back into the class. Brutus doesn't understand Laila.
